    Swaro 15x Price Check

NEU's (dark green) generally go for $1400 - $1500 in good condition. Original SLC's (light green) $1100 - $1300 depending on condition. That being said, it is possible to "upgrade" the originals to NEU specs, i.e. swarodur and swarobright lens coatings. Ocular and objective lenses are replaced...

Old Swarovski SLC 15x vs HD SLC 15

    Swarovski question....binoculars

SLC HD's are very good. EL Swarovision are sharper at the edge but have additional elements to do so (less light transfer). SLC's are threaded for a binocular adapter. EL's require a somewhat bulky adapter to be tripod mounted (Outdoorsmans will press in an adapter on the hinge but .... more...

    Used Spotting Scope

When considering a purchase, get the serial # of the product from the seller and contact the manufacturer concerning its origin. You want to make sure the product is "USA" and not gray market. Gray market will need to be sent offshore for warranty service AND the warranty is not as good...

Your advice on a new tripod head?

Being you are an experienced sheep hunter I suspect you have an idea what you want. What are you thinking? Panning ball head, 2 way pan head or a trigger head similar to what you have?

    Spotting scope Opinions

Alpha glass is good if you can afford it. Buying used is the way to go provided the manufacturer extends the warranty beyond initial owner. I have a Kowa 663 with a 30X fixed eyepiece. Very nice scope. Should you decide on Kowa, make sure your purchase product with a USA warranty or you'll...

    Kowa spotters

I've got a TSN 663 (I think that's the model#). It's the 66mm angled Prominar model. Got a 30X fixed eyepiece. It's a very nice scope, lightweight too. It is sharp to the edge of the field and has good resolution at low light. Kowa scope compares favorably to my 80mm Swaro scope...

Renting dual spotting scope set ups

Unlikely. Dual spotting scopes require a mount that is adjustable for inter-pupilary distance and collimation. Generally it takes some trial and error to get everything right for a specific observer. In essence, dual scopes are a "personal" tool. Unfortunately, most are easily knocked out of...

    Arizona TrailCam Ban Proposal

Have not heard of any trail cam ban being proposed in AZ. I do believe it is inevitable. Arizona, very nice 1st post. Welcome to the site. IMO, there are many solid reasons trail cams should go away on public land. Personally, I don't use them but I sure do enjoy all the cool photos...

    what do I do?

Remember, yielding to the first person on scene is ethical but not the law. Hogging a hunting spot is not ethical either IMO. Generally I don't sit water, don't need the drama. Those who do get plenty as the OP is finding out. I ignore cameras, blinds, signs, etc. All these claiming...

    Azgfd meeting

The fact that no one from AZSFW was present at the meeting concerns me. I believe AZSFW knows their time will be best spent with the Governor and the legislature. Probably a good time to communicate further with our respective legislators.

    Promaster 525

Based on reviews by others on this forum I bought two 525's from Cameraland. I am pleased, tripods seem to be well constructed and easy to use. FYI, got a smokin' deal from Cameraland and the special is still on if you're on the fence.

    2011 AZ Gov Tag Buck

    Back to On-Line Applications...

"This helps no hunter getting a tag, only the odd chance of filling an app out incorrect." I disagree with first part of this statement. Hunters who cannot afford to upfront cash will be helped by online CC apps. Hunters can easily enter the draw, as it should be in my opinion. Game & Fish...

    Dangerous hunting

I've driven through Nogales/Hermosillo and on to San Carlos many times. Prepare your paperwork and vehicle well, travel in daylight hours. Really no big deal. Furthermore, if you are a guest of a landowner on a guided/outfitted hunt, your safety is likely to be paramount. No, I would not...

    Old style swarovski spotter

Thanks for the update. Good to know there is little or no advantage to ugrading to a newer style 20 - 60x eyepiece. I prefer fixed power eyepieces but packing multiple units is not an option when hiking.

    Old style swarovski spotter

"I wonder if the wide angle eyepiece will fit the older style." I emailed Swaro a couple months ago asking that very question. According to Swaro the new eyepieces will fit the ST / AT scopes. Unfortunately the eyepieces won't "lock in." Probably not an issue with the fixed powers but when...

    Old style swarovski spotter

I've got a Habicht AT 80 with the 20 - 60 X eyepiece. Image is sharp & flat. Don't have the dope on FOV with the old style eyepiece but the apparent FOV is like 50 degrees. Good scope but runs about 5 ounces heavier than the new ones. I'd like to try the new 25 - 50X WA on my old beater...

    landowner tag system.

Gettin' a hog away from a trough ain't easy. You gotta get mean! LOL NM residents might want to consider a 90/10 split for LO tags. After all, wildlife belongs to the people of NM. Suspect LO tag prices would drop substantially if only 10% could be sold to NR's.
