South Slope - Yellowstone - Cell Service - ATT or Verizon

Verizon hands down for overall coverage. Verizon co-locates with the local carrier in the Basin. But if these fires don't get under control....the south slope will be limited to hunting areas. What species/season are you hunting?

Littlebighorn, Thanks for the information. I'm not caught up on score....Just want a mature ram if possible. I never figured I'd draw a sheep tag in my lifetime so I feel very fortunate to get this opportunity. I appreciate all the help that's been given, and the advise from all. I will indeed...

    San Rafael dirty devil sheep

To say I'm excited would be an understatement. Anyone wanting to share information would be greatly appreciated. Figure it isn't what it once was as I've heard the numbers are down from years past, but I'll put on some boot wear and see what happens. Anyone else on here had this tag in the past...

    Wasatch East Tabby Mtn Area

I'll be honest with you...if you don't have permission to hunt private land then Tabby is a very tough hunt. Tons of people hunt on the public land. There's always a few good bucks that come out of that country, but mostly by the locals who know the area very well. I'm not trying to discourage...

    Tabby mountain landgrab

From what I understand. The DWR is trying to acquire it, but it has now become a bidding war with a private entity.

    Hunt with Trump Jr.

Id be glad to hunt with the man. It'd be good to actually meet the guy without the press telling us how to feel about him. What better place to get to know someone than hunting.

    What is a big buck?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-21-18 AT 08:51AM (MST)[p]I think anything 160" to 170" are good bucks. 180" on up to 200" are great bucks... above 200" are phenomenal. That being said... score isn't everything and there are great bucks that don't score well. If a new hunter kills a 170"+ buck... that's...

Nine mile anthro late rifle bull tag

Migration unit? The only place for them to migrate is onto tribal ground or private ground. There's a CWMU unit they migrate onto where the chance of a decent bull is. Honestly you better hope for no snow. The chances greatly reduce if you get much snow. Good luck...Anthro used to be a great...

    San Juan archery elk

I agree on the water being a good strategy, BUT don't count on it. Sometimes they get some of the monsoonal moisture that time of year, and you don't want to have all of your eggs in one basket. Besides...there's a lot more water on the unit than some think. The rock pile is as good of place to...

San Juan camping over spring break

If you do camp up by the bears ears.....check the weather first. You WON'T want to be up there in a mini van if it rains. That road gets pretty nasty. Not sure where you're planning on hunting, but if you head toward the causeway north out of Blanding ... there's plenty of pines down low and...

    Barbary Sheep

So I lucked out and have drawn a NM Barbary sheep tag. Having never hunted this species was hoping to receive some tips from Monster Muley friends. I have till Feb to scout and try to figure out where I'm going, but wanted to know if anyone has hunted Units 32,34,36,and 37 before? Any tips or...

    Fawn Mortality Rates

I heard that in N/E Utah. Out of the fawns they had collared. They had lost 50%, and this was a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure that number will climb over the next 30 days.

    Monroe early tag?

Oneye Had an issue similar to yours only my Dad was 81, and just diagnosed with leukemia. Decided to put in for the muzzy hunt. It was a great hunt...he killed a great bull (365") and had the hunt of his life. He passed away 2 months later. I'm so grateful that we abandoned the early rifle. I...

    Baiting bears

a good thing about grease is: when they leave and its on their feet....they leave a trail right to your bait for other bears to follow. Main thing is don't let your bait go dry...always keep something for them to eat. Different bears like different foods. Good luck and yes keep us updated on...

    negative wasatch talk

You will still find rutting action and will be able to find a 300 class bull maybe bigger if you hunt hard and get lucky. Numbers are WAY down as you've heard. This unit was once a premier unit....now not so much. Everyone is just saddened at what this unit once was compared to what it is today...
