Who Next?

Well, Hoss, I do not pretend to be an expert in the law, and would not care to make predictions about whether Trump or others will be indicted. I can only say that lawyers involved in his campaign have had their licenses suspended for lying to the courts and many of the others involved are pleading the fifth because they understand that words show intent. Furthermore, they understand that it is possible to break the law simply by planning a crime (as the bank robber apprehended on the way in the front door will tell you).

I am content to wait and see, and am satisfied that the decision will be made in a court of law, according to rules that I agree to live by.

Pleading the fifth isn't acknowledging criminal action.

I agree, AGAIN. It is possible to break the law BY PLANNING a crime. Where is the PLANNING part? Not the talking, or screaming part.

They got Oath Keepers on conspiracy of sedition, and sedition. They have THEIR PLANS to equal the charges.(Btw, they also have them bitching about Trump NOT doing anything to help)

I'll notice, you didn't answer the Sanders question.

Again I agree. If Trump is charged, he gets his day in court. This dog and pony show, is just that. Are we really to believe Liz Cheney is a better crime solver than the DOJ?

Or perhaps, Garland knows the heresay and the "star witness", who didn't witness anything would be thrashed in court, and he would be the laughing stock of the country?

"Pleading the fifth isn't acknowledging criminal action" And neither is it a denial of criminal action. "I decline to respond on the grounds that I may incriminate myself..." Incriminate oneself of what, I wonder?

As for Sanders, how would I know why he was not indicted? More to the point, it is your question. I won't not know the answer to this any more than I would know why Trump has not been indicted, and so I do not understand what principle you believe I have failed to support.

Dunno. I thought that was the point of the investigation, and I have not managed one. And I am quite sure that you have not either. So, what is your rush?

Gotta say- Trump is morally iffy, and ego-wise beyond iffy. Ya, he didn't help the 1-6 situation, and due to his personality and crazy bravado was certainly the catalyst for it (but the whackos are the ones who did it, and they pay the price). He was the poorest loser in history and acted that way. But the government transitioned, and now we have Brandon. I won't vote for him in the primaries. That said- if he survives and wins the R nomination, I'm voting for him with zero hesitation. Why? Because a good economy, a constitutionally oriented Supreme Court, no new taxes, less regulations, etc. etc. far outweigh the "dangers" presented by those iffy traits. It's not even close...

The polls in 2016 were pretty accurate, they said Trump would get less votes than Hillary and he did. but they didn't pay enough attention to WHERE the votes were. so our special Olympics rules gave Trump the win. no one was more shocked than Trump.

So in 2020 the polls said Biden would get more votes and he did. and he got more in the right places and won the electoral votes " bigly " .

So now the mouthbreathers say since Trump pulled off an upset in '16 he should have repeated that against even bigger odds in 2020. that's not how it works. Biden was expected to win and he did, so things going as expected is not proof someone cheated it's called statistical probability.

All that's left to talk about in the last election is which Trumpers broke the law and how will they be punished.

I still say Cheney is the obvious best choice for the next election . Cheney has proven her patriotism and she can prove it again by running as an independent. no lying MAGAT has a chance with her pulling real republican votes away from the Nazi. check mate, democracy survives. . and if she wins all the better this is all assuming the GOP does nominate a MAGAT which is a pretty safe bet.

This is so damn spot on. and the GOP is fixing it so there's nobody who gives a FF about our suggestions in the next election. 2020 was the test run for stealing an election they found the weak links and removed them.

Run this up the flag pole……DeSantis/Gabbard….?
Nope, won’t work for the 2lumpy. A Democrat is still a Democrat. She’s likable for sure but her core ambitions are still Democrat. There’s good GOP folks that DeSantis can pick, if comes to that.

If Gabbard wants to switch parties, you go girl. If she’d support the GOP platform, that’s an entirely different matter, but for now, she’s very articulate and very likable but still too liberal for me.

Lumpy, you know trump’s a democrat, right? Once a d always a d is a tough place to be with the current crop. ;)

I put you a moonlit quakie pic in Tony’s thread because I believe good people can disagree. (y)

were his policies liberal?
Some, sure. More importantly, his policies (like his party affiliation) were/was what he needed to win*.

I just don’t like a sore loser who cheats. Honestly, simple as that for me. :(

*I’ve made the point before that Early Trump did gather some pretty impressive staff who were astute political tacticians (swampers as he would say) who made him look good.

But now they’ve all gone full-on rat, and he is left commanding a ship of fools. Nope, not the same as before. And maybe that’s just rationalizing my shame.

Yep. When Nixon finally threw in the towel, it was because those in his own party refused to compromise their reputations. In an age where voters overlook character in order to achieve political advantage, they become the part of the "system" that failed.

I cannot count the number of times I have read MMers justify one transgression or other on the grounds that candidate X was "just their representative, not their pastor," and then these same people scratch their heads and wonder why the opposing team has adopted their playbook.

Perhaps that ship has sailed, but unseaworthy vessels eventually implode. I am with Centerfire when he suggests that Americans share a lot of common ground, if only the extreme left and right will stop with the distractions to prevent us from seeing them. Vote your conscience, politics be damned. With the lies out of the way, we will all have better representation.
I’m a consummate apologist buckskin.

I know who’s playbook got adopted by who and it worked just like it’s been designed to worked.

That’s why he kept telling good people who suggested he tamper down the name calling a rancor. His responds was, “I don’t think so, my ratings keep climbing…..I think it’s working, so I think I should keep doing what I’m doing.”

Do we remember those discussions.

Who’s play book did he adopt? Has that playbook worked for every Democrat and one Republican or not?

Don't you remember what the orange jebus said about pleading the 5th ?

And where did der Fuhrer get the men in black's memory eraser ? holy chit a lot of people around him can't remember a damn thing about anything. but they do remember to plead the 5th.

Still waiting for Togpotty to look deep into the bottom of his bottle to let us know one thing Biden has improved on over Trump. He knows he has nothing.

Trump lost because he was a chitty president. Biden won because Trump was a chitty president.

Few people wanted Biden as president, less want him today. he just was and is the better of two awful choices brought to us by a horrible primary system. but NONE OF THIS has anything to do with the crimes Trump committed after he lost.

We need to put Trump and his henchmen in jail and we need someone like Cheney to bring leadership and trust back to the Whitehouse. but that's not what's going to happen because nobody cares about nation anymore it's me me me.
Trump won. Let's go Brandon. Brandon didn't win chit. The swamp and main stream media like things the way they are. Record inflation and shipping millions of barrels of oil from the National Strategic Oil Reserves direct to CHINA. Way to go Sleepy Joe.

Simply means you've chosen to not testify against yourself.

Interesting, but the election in many states did not ONLY take place on November 3rd. It instead occurred on the 3rd, 4th, 5th and then some with a known fixed number of votes needed to overcome Trumps early lead. Ballot harvesting, ballots without signatures, many posted late, late votes passed thru by postmasters, operatives who are as you say "willing to wade through fire" to sway the result.

To be fair, voter rolls that don't address folks that moved within the state or that registered in another state and also voted in that location need to be addressed . They need to remove the deceased from the voter roles as well (dead people should not vote). None of this is voter suppression what so ever. It is a necessary step to preserve integrity and not dilute another citizen's selection. Early voting and absentee ballots are fine and preferred by many. As long as one produces a valid ID we are golden. I vote this way for conveniency. Also good for people too afraid to vote on election day because of COVID19, flu, or because they feel superior to the unwashed masses in line. You know, the Boomer Rubes, Deplorables, pesky Libertarians and the like. When we count the votes local representatives of both parties need to view the ballots together. If someone acts badly or overly partisan they need to be permanently replaced. Only level heads need to be assigned this task. No big Tech involvement of any kind thank you.
What do you think of my take on this? Thank you for your interest and tolerance of my opinion.

LaGriz
There was a lot of fraud in the 2020 election. But know one will talk about it. Except Trump. COVID theater was used to bend and break voting laws. Signature requirements etc.

From the Babylon Bee..
article-62c6feb08908d.jpg

The prophets have long whispered of the return of ULTRA-MAGA King Trump. In faith, we know that his return is inevitable and that he will soon reclaim the presidency and set right what has gone awry.

Here are the first 12 things Trump will do when he returns to power:

  1. Spray Febreze on the Oval Office curtains to get the old man smell out: Step one to draining the swamp is giving it a flowery scent.
  2. Make Pelosi wear a sweater on the beach: I mean, really.
  3. Welcome back Mike Pence, just to tell him he's fired: It'll be the highest ratings for a single episode of The Apprentice. Maybe ever.
  4. Invade Afghanistan so he can show how much better he would be at withdrawing from Afghanistan: He's been dreaming about this one every night when he goes to sleep.
  5. Finish building that wall, but make Hunter Biden pay for it: Hunter will borrow from Joe, who will borrow from China. 4D chess!
  6. Make everything at the dollar store $1 again: And abolish the fed.
  7. Sneak out of the Oval Office for a quick 9 holes: Trump needs to keep his golf skills sharp so he can challenge Putin to a match for the fate of Russia.
  8. Bring back the McRib: And make it permanent this time!
  9. Find Osama Bin Laden's body and kill him again: USA! USA! USA!
  10. Declare total infinity immunity with no take-backs: Should put an end to congressional witch hunts.
  11. Put Dr. Fauci in the stocks in the National Mall so everyone can throw cabbage at him: Somewhere up there Samuel Adams is drunkenly smiling.
  12. Buy Greenland and make Mexico pay for it: And then drill for oil like there's no tomorrow.

If the GOP wins both houses of Congress and President in 2024, they need to get smart and change the voting laws to prevent fraud in the elections.
Democrats have pushed to allow ballot harvesting in many states. It used to be a person could only bring in two voter ballots. Reason for this was to allow a adult child to bring in his parents or grandparents ballots if they were two feeble to go to the polls to vote. Now a person can bring in hundreds of ballots and the Democrats were good at harvesting those votes by going into the homeless camps and getting them to vote for Democrats. You would be surprised how fast a pack of smokes can buy a favorable vote.
All death certificates should be sent in to the county office that controls voting in order that the deceased person can be removed from being registered as a voter.
I also feel that proof of citizenship should be required in order to vote. It only needs to be done one time in order to become a registered voter in this country. Look at all the other things we are required to show proper identification to do and no one throws a hissy fit over it like the Democrats do for voter I.D. to be required.
I believe that the Democrats did commit voter fraud in many places in this country, but I have doubts it was enough to throw the election for sleepy Joe's win.

Wisconsin Supreme Court outlaws ballot drop boxes for elections

By Joseph Ax

July 8 (Reuters) - A divided Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the use of ballot drop boxes, which increased substantially across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic, is illegal under state law.

Most of the very minimal voter fraud there was in 2020 was by republicans. and even by the Trump administrations own findings it was insignificant.

The goal is not to protect elections it's to control them. the GOP is a shrinking minority and stopping poor people from voting and changing undesirable election results are the only way for a minority to retain power. make voting as difficult, time consuming and inconvenient as possible to discourage participation. and I have to say you're doing a great job at it.

Mail in voting is the obvious answer but that kind of voter participation is exactly what you don't want. you can't prove there's a single problem with it you just know too many people voting is your demise.

You may win a few battles but you'll lose the war. minority rule can last a while but it always falls in the end. by trashing and manipulating the constitution you're destroying the only thing that's given you the power you have today. enjoy it while it lasts.

Voter ID, signature verification and in person voting. What is wrong with them? They are not forms of voter suppression. Quit drinking the dem's Koolaide.

Mail in voting was created when there was a legit reason. Military members being out of state or the country. Folks unable to leave there home or hospital for medical reasons. Not drop boxes and ballot harvesting because of the Chinese bat virus.

The election was manipulated (stolen).

COVID was created in a lab in Wuhan China. The biggest crime of our lifetime.

Should voting requirements be a federal or state determination?

Incidentally, I have no issue with voter ID laws or citizenship requirements.

I do like the convenience of a ballot dropbox at the county clerks office. It seems easy enough to me to verify the ballot authenticity and I enjoy avoiding the crowd on election day. Around here, it’s busier that the liquor stores when church lets out.

In my life time democrats have slowly been losing power in Washington. If they believed that the future was all in there favor, they would not be pushing to lower the voting age or allowing non citizens to vote. What scares the crap out of democrats is the chance that Hispanics may be turning against them. Too early to tell if that is going to happen, even if Republicans gain just 10 percentage points with Hispanics the Democrats will have a difficulty ever winning a Presidential election.

Gee, I wonder which is more a "threat to our democracy", buffalo hat dude, or paid bounties on SCOTUS.

If it's illegal, arrest them.

Unlike some people here, I'm not going to say it's okay to break the law just because somebody else did it first.

I completely agree with your premise that voters should provide ID and that ballots should be secure (and I believe they mostly are).

It is the quote above that interests me as a matter of principle. It is odd that we all view the exchanges of cigarettes in return for votes as inappropriate, yet businesses, unions, and interest groups of every sort regularly sell their votes for billions and we think nothing of it.

Did Trump win the election in Arizona?
Despite dozens of lawsuits nationally and in Arizona, none has provided evidence that Trump won the race over Joe Biden. The state's own ballot review confirmed Biden's win in Arizona.

Trump is dumb enough to think running for president will shield him from the law like being president does.

I hope he announces his run ASAP to let the trainwreck gain steam before primary season. this is going to be so fun to watch I've ordered a pallet of popcorn.

A short list for his VP nominations include Lake and MTG. What a tough decision he has to make...... you can throw Tucker Carlson into the mix now too since he is out of a job. He has plenty of lunatics to chose from now and the list will just keep growing...
That’s a good one Centerfire. All winning tickets for sure!!
I think I’ll have to pick Trump/MTG as my favorite….because they’re both on the same level of stupid.

Tucker Carlson is the most watched show. I’m sure he’ll have a job pretty fast. And I’ve watched him call out both sides of the fence. But anyway we’ll never know the real story any way since there was a settlement. My guess is it would have exposed stuff from dominion and every news network that could lead to unrest. But here’s to getting Biden out of office in 24.?

If you believe the polls the majority of Americans don't want an orangeman/mashed potato brains rematch. I'm in that camp but will vote orange if it comes down to it. The "media" sure is pushing hard for orange to be the nominee. They love the ratings orange gives them and the cash that follows. I don't think either will be the nominee.

I bet he still drinks Bud Light.
Do your homework Mr mindnumbed Blueman. TRUMP doesn't drink alcohol, hence he still is coherent and a proven leader. I want a conservative to win in 2024, what has happened to him with MSM, a deep state within the FBI and DOJ followed by rogue NY/GA partisan junk is an travesty ....its not right. That being said he has been damaged by these lies and powerful forces , im praying DeSantis becomes the nominee , I want a conservative steering the ship and I believe that DeSantis can win in the general election. History will not look favorably on the injustice that was laid on Trump.

Coherent? Proven leader? Seriously??

Might turn out to be a proven criminal…... It’s not a partisan issue when you call a GA election official and ask him to “find” just enough votes to steal a win in the state.

Didn’t know drinking alcohol made you non-coherent……guess lot’s of us are in big trouble?

And I agree with you on a conservative in 2024, but definitely not on Trump.

But here’s to getting Biden out of office in 24.?

The news of Tucker Carlson's firing, allegedly relating to a near-$800 million Dominion settlement, reminded me of Trump's many 2020 claims of a stolen election.

The stolen election claims are myths. There was no mass fraud (to the extent that the outcome would've changed without the fradulent votes). Bill Barr had the DOJ and FBI investigate all allegations, and they found nothing. He allegedly told Trump, to his face in the Situation Room, "The Stolen Election claims are bullsh--t"

However -- with Trump's likely to be the nominee, his role in the election fraud claims will be an issue. Infact, Rudy G, Sidney Powell, Mike Lindell, and OANN may be going to trial in 2024 if they don't settle. And stolen election talk naturally ties back to Jan 6th.

So how is Trump supposed to handle this baggage? I find it a difficult question:

1). If he continues to claim the election was stolen, he looks bad, as he's pushing an obvious lie. The midterms also suggest that voters don't want this narrative (see Kari Lake)

2). If he renounces his claim that the election was stolen and admits he lost, he still looks bad. He would either have to admit that he lied about the stolen-election or that he was stupid enough to get duped by Rudy and others into believing in the stolen-election

Thinking of this question, I'm again reminded of why Trump shouldn't be the R nominee in 2024. Going with Trump again will NOT get Biden out of office.

……….Going with Trump again will NOT get Biden out of office.
I’m willing gamble that he can and I’m willing to find out…….. until someone with equal or better proven tenacity comes out of the forest.

I’d prefer a less crude presentation persona but I want his toughness and his commitment to his political promises.

Another inept Republican’t President does us more harm than a predictable Demoist, as far as I’m concerned.

It’s almost time to answer the “If not Biden or Trump, then who?”

Trump is truly hated now more than ever (leaning this way myself) & thinking he can pull off a 2016 style victory in the general is a fantasy at this point. It's Trump or DeSantis - none of the other entries have a chance. It's why Trump is going so hard after RDS. He's showing his usual baby/man/child behavior by relentlessly attacking RDS for policies he previously praised, refusing to debate him... and planning to try and keep him out of the primary altogether. Biden is refusing to debate anyone in the primary also. Not cool for either of them. Don't the American people deserve to hear from the candidates? Have to agree with CenterFire

I guess it is still a stolen election until the cows come home.
I'M thinking Big B will find a way to get top votes again.
If he was smart enough to steal the first one why wouldn't he steal the 2nd one too. LOL

And don’t forget that we’ve seen this trump drama before. 4 years ago right here a bunch of us were openly questioning whether we thought he actually wanted to win.

And back then he had a crew of adults trying to restrain him. Now its legal counsel and judges, with the remaining political operatives on his team being crackpots and kooks.
