Tree Standing Policy

I once found a wooden "treestand" on the North Slope. Someone had basically nailed a wooden chair about 12 feet up in a pine tree. I went back many times to see how long it was there. It went into disrepair and finally came down one winter... now its a pile of wood under the tree. Circle of Life I guess. ?

I've never hunted out of a tree stand. Don't they get weathered if they are out in the elements for several years?

This time of year, I'm not so sure that they're left in the tree to deprive other hunters as much as it's a case of laziness.

I know I left one decades ago (lazy, weather got bad, then forgot to go back) and when I finally returned to haul it out, it was taken down by someone. I'm sorry!
