Anyone ever hunt with western outdoor adventures?

I have a hunt booked with this outfit on private land next month and would like to hear from those who have hunted with them in the past please, good/bad or other wise. Feel free to pm me if you’d rather not post publicly.
Thanks in advance

What did they tell you prior to booking? Surely they gave you some harvest stats and references.

All the normal things an outfitter tells you, high success rate , don’t get me wrong I’m not bashing or being negative towards them just asking for others thought s who have used them in the past

Checked out the website, looks like your run of the mill Meeker private land only run as many guys as we can, shoot as many animals as we can kinda outfit. That type of hunt is pretty ubiquitous around that area. Let us know how it goes! Looks like they kill a lot of elk and deer. I wonder if your guide will let you decide which 4x5 to shoot or tell you which one to shoot?

Well I guess all I can do is hope for the best and make the best of what I am dealt ! After all it’s only 1600 miles each way and a week of vacation time ! Get to see some new country I’ve never been to, I never expected a 200” monster anyway just a good representation of that’s area’s mule deer,

Buddy hunted with them two years ago. He saw a bunch of deer and elk on a private ranch near Rifle. He passed a 165” deer and ended up shooting a smaller one on the last day. He liked his guide and had no complaints. Hotel and food in Rifle is on you! He is going again this year, second half of third season. Apparently he has elk hunters in first, then brings in deer hunters. Good luck and please report back!

Appreciate the positive response sir as there seems to be a lot of negativity on this forum, hopefully I’ll be hunting the same private land as your buddy , the property I’m hunting is also just SW of rifle 🤞

I’d like to book with them but would like to hear how your hunts go first

Recap of hunting experience with western outdoor adventures LLC 2024
Overall this wasn’t the best hunt I’ve been on but wasn’t all bad , I did see deer every day and did see bucks every day tho none had any age on them , I did end up taking a 2 1/2- 3 yr old deer, I cannot say enough positive above the guide I had ! This young man was obviously raised right with a great moral compass and worked hard to make the best of what he had to work with!
( outstanding young man!!) biggest problem was number of hunters on the property, ranch was a tad over 5k acres and there were 10 guide’s with two hunters each hunting the property, some elk and some deer but way to much pressure for that size property when selling 150-170 class hunts IMHO ,

20 hunters on 5000 acres sounds like a money grab to me. Glad you got one. Sad part is i bet 8-10 of those dudes went home empty handed. No one should leave empty handed on a private land lease mule deer hunt unless it's bc they were turning down 150+ class deer.

I got to thinking which is always dangerous. There are three rifle deer season in Colorado.. That could translate into 60 rifle plus archery, muzzle loaders and who knows how many elk hunters plus the guides that were with them.. This kinda sounds like "welcome to War Mart". Not my kind of experience !

Let’s see a pic of your buck
Price is around $5K hunter? Sorry you didn’t have a better hunt!
Yes price is $5.500 plus food and lodging tho I found a really great B&B for $350 for the week in meeker 👍like I said I saw both bucks and doe daily, could be a really great hunt if property was managed at all

Talked to my buddy, he said there were 7 guys on that ranch, second season two years ago! He really liked his guide and is going back third season this year! I will keep you posted.

Alot of those outfits around Meeker have been running those kind of hunts for many years and they keep filling up with clients every year... I guess to each his own

The reality is, to most hunters a 125" mule deer might as well be a 160. AND most people want things the easy way. Nobody should be surprised that outfits like this fill up year after year. Hunts like this are the next step after your failed OTC elk 5 day road hunt where you saw no animals while driving every road in the unit. Well, Ill do private land, thatll surely get me an easy animal, dont care how big. There is WAY more of this type of person/hunter, than the type we all envision our counterparts as.

One of my favorite things about guiding back country horseback hunts was listening to dudes talk about what kinda hunt they wanna do next. Trust me when I say people want easy animals.

I never even looked into public land hunts because I don’t know enough about mule deer hunting to feel confident, this was a bucket list hunt for me and wanted every advantage I could have and didn’t mind paying for it, like I said earlier I saw deer every day and enjoyed the hunt but didn’t expect the reference above ( puppy mill ) . Next year I will do something else.
