I like the 168 gr. Have not worked up a hot load yet for the 300 WM.

Been using them in a 308 win. and have been happy.

Kind of odd...I use quickload and they list 3062 as MV for the same charge of 22.

And, Barnes suggestion of 69.3gr of 4350 yields possible over pressure at 64.6K psi and 3076 MV.

FWIW, my barrel is 26, v. Barnes barrel of 24"

I am by no way an expert on loading copper, but I find the pressure signs increases faster with powder weight. And barrel length seems to affect pressure and speed more. Barrel tolerances also. Just my observation with the few rifles I load for family members and myself. I have not pushed copper like I do Bergen’s. My 7mm WSM is 2 grains over max and still has no pressure signs even it hot weather. It is also most accurate at that speed.

I'm loading 76.0 grains of RL 22, CCI magnum LR primer, Hornady brass and 175 grain LRX BT. COAL 3.437 vs 3.547 to touch. Chrony average was 3198 fps on 5 shots, don't have SD info. 24 inch barrel, Fierce Edge. No pressure signs that I see. Max load data I referenced was 76.5 grains.

I have 2 Barnes reloading manuals and copy off their website reloading data. Found quite a few loads that don’t jive between the manuals and website. I always start in the middle of the lowest one and build up from there.

I have almost exactly the same COAL and velocity out of the same charge in my 26" barrel Cooper .300WM. No pressure signs, but, quickload shows an estimated 65K worth of pressure.

Adjusting the C.O.A.L. gives a lesser pressure reading and only a slight drop in velocity. Velocity was nearly identical to QL on my chronograph, with an S.D. of 10-12 for 2 groups of 5.

I was very surprised or lucky or both.

Federal Match LRM primers, Lapua cases, and I weighed the cases and bullets into groups. I have some Petersen brass I may try after hunting seasons are over.

My SD was 16. All very similar to your data. This rifle/loading had been a tack driver for me and much better than my shooting skill can utilize.

I'm getting 3220 out of my 300 Win with a 180 Partition. it's a hot load but safe, you have to have a slow twist to pull it off is what I've found. and of course I can't shoot 200 gr bullets very well with it, and that's okay.

I tried the Barnes bullets, took a couple bulls with them but I'm convinced the Partition is a far better bullet .

I still want to try the 175’s and it has been awhile since I researched this. So I might be wrong, but the difference between the 168 gr TTSX at the speeds I was reloading at and the 175 LRX at their speed performance difference and speed to properly open were not worth the effort to work up another load. But if you were shooting the 180 TTSX then the 175’s would make a difference.

Little bigger spread over 7 rounds. Time for a quick Wyoming trip, then Idaho 2 days later and Colorado in mid November.

I think this Winter I'm gonna work more on neck tension, maybe some neck turning and closer tolerances on weighing bullets. I'll wting out some Peterson brass and Nosler brass.

Lapua brass, if anyone is interested. SD was at 12.

That's fast out of a .300 Winchester. mtmuley
It is. Combination of RL 26 and a “fast barrel” get me there with no drama. It’s definitely exceptional, and beyond the norm. Unfortunately that barrel is pretty much done. I doubt the new barrel I put on there this winter with give the same results.

I was going to ask about 26. mtmuley

The 175 LRX has been an inherently accurate bullet for me as well. Same load in both 3090 out of the Rem, 3070 out of the HMR (which is weird because it has a longer barrel and suppressor).

This group from my Rem 700 BDL.

Good luck,

What powder you using. Really not a fan of compressed loads, yet a lot of powders I have and want to use fill the cast pretty quickly before getting to top velocity.

I’m using IMR 7828 SSC. It fills the case for sure. In all honesty, I have the best luck with compressed loads and slow powders with Magnums. It’s easy to get the velocity with faster powders and less case capacity, but in my experience the ES and SD get worse wnd aren’t as stable with that type of load.

Thinking of trying H1000 & H4381sc and compressing loads..
My other choices (H4350, IMR4350, & IMR4831) are not as temp stable.
Thanks
Bill
