D8 hunter self inflicted gunshot(fatal)

Sad deal. Happened about 3 miles from where me and my buddy were camped. Makes me wonder what exactly happened? Pistol in the pocket?....dropped rifle with a hair trigger and safety off? However it happened, prayers for his family.

Not sure how you actually would do that? I don't believe in accidental gun shot injures or deaths. Stupidity maybe! Accident...never. Takes one in the pipe and a trigger pull.....

I hear ya. Everytime I hear of something like this happening, I just don't see how it could. I don't know. I was raised to treat firearms with respect and common sense. Treat every gun like its loaded and never be negligent.

I’m seriously surprised more people don’t accidentally shoot them self. People are so care free with guns at times.

My first day elk hunting, my dad's friend who was kind enough to take a kid hunting almost killed me. He was unloading his rifle when he shot his truck, about 2 feet next to me.

It taught me numerous valuable lessons at 14 years old. There are no gun accidents, only careless lack of focus imo.

It's more common than you think, I personally know two people who've shot themselves in a non suicidal fashion, one with a rifle while hunting and the other while playing with a pistol in his home. Both survived horrible wounds to their leg.

I know of a guy who used to pack, years ago. Reckless sort. Apparently drinking one and stopped on the side of road to pee. Fumbling around he shot himself in groin. He died.

People are reckless as $hit.

Guy I know threw his hunting bag down in the house a few years ago and his 357 went off that he had in his bag.

Damn near killed him and grazed his dog.

True...that's the part I don't get. Firearms are one thing you shouldn't have your head up your ass while handling.

Not 100% sure but word is it was a .25, of all calibers. Got a buddy that is friends with TC sheriff deputy.

I don't know. Looking back on it, if I had to hunt deer in California every year, I might shoot myself too.
Just kidding. It's really not that hard to not shoot yourself. Super easy, actually.

It's really easy!! Just takes a little common sense and thought. Hard for some though, I guess.
