So did you all get the tag, or tags, you were hoping for in Wyoming? Did the new fee's help you, or scare you away?

Applied in the regular draw but didn’t draw anything! The special price is way too “special” for me to afford.

I went with the regular draw with my 8 points, and I was glad I decided against spending the $1200 for the special draw, since I did end up drawing my antelope tag. Actually my tag could have been drawn with only 6 points. But I'm glad to have used my points now before prices go up even more, and they go to 90/10. I probably will focus on elk hunting in Wyoming every year now and give up on trying to draw buck antelope tags through the preference point draw, but I will try to draw in the random.

As a non resident I'm jumping ship on antelope with 2 points, not worth it to me anymore. To far invested on elk and deer, l Have 9 elk and 8 deer and I'll just keep buying points for them until the time is right.

My brother and I got an elk tag. We went in the regular thinking everyone would chase better odds in the special and it worked out as we wouldn’t have drawn in the special. I am sure other zones were the opposite though.

How about you Mr Founder, were you able to get a deer tag?

Mark

No draw in regular on a general with 3 pts. I didn’t think that I would.

I put in for a leftover last week we’ll see what those results bring.

I had 10 elk, 11 antelope and 8 deer points. I only applied for Gen W tag for elk and drew it. Should be a fun hunt. Next year I may burn my antelope points. Depends on what I hear and see. This time I hope to get a good one. My last one was decent, with 14 inch prongs and 5-6" cutters. Had great mass and scored 74" by my scoring skills. I hope to break 80" on my next one.

You made me look at that twice.
Sorry, I didn't word that right. But here is a pic of him. And I probably scored him wrong too. It's been a few years since I got him, about 13 or 14 years ago. So I don't remember too well on the score. But anyways....

Unit 22 for elk.
Headed that way in a couple of weeks to get the lay of the unit.
If any of you are familiar with the unit I would appreciate any advice you have to offer.
Planning on archery hunting.
Get in shape if you plan to hike the mountain, it's steep. Don't overlook the lower country. There are some nice bulls killed in 22. Maybe I will see you out there later in the year. Don't forget to come back and let us know how you did.

Ferris mountain- told my son to spread my ashes near the old plane crash site when I go to the happy hunting ground!

Year round fitness is my normal routine, age will sneak up on you if you let. I don’t want to go willingly.
I do have one question for you fellows that have hunted it.
Which side of the mountain, north or south, gets most of the attention during elk season

I drew exactly zero- I’m never putting in again in Wyoming-period. Not going to be discriminated against by those in Power- the $$$ thrown at Wyoming are a total waste- nothing much left after the monster winter loses anyway- Wyoming is a dead horse- I know someday the hunting may return, but not for me in my lifetime- hell, I’m 77 & now the end isn’t that far away, it’s been fun - until now. Lots of good memories since 1978. Love the country & the wildlife - never in a million years would I have guessed this would all come crashing down to this sorry mess .
Shameful.
Glad I’ve still got a little Hope left in Colorado !

We drew unit 39 Elk. We must have lucked out with the random draw. Looking forward to the hunt and would definitely appreciate any info from those familiar with the unit!

So what after admitting you know about the massive winter loss you think everyone should still get a tag?

Congrats, Bob. My family drew pronghorn with 7 NR points in Unit 72 (regular draw). We just barely drew and I'm glad we went with the cheaper tags now. This will be my first time hunting in WY. They're generous with NR tags. I'm grateful for it and I wish Arizona would allocate more tags to NR hunters. It would be a little more difficult to draw but at least family from out of state could come down more often. Good luck to those hunting in 2024.

See my other Post , Founder , on Wyomings mess.
I’m not ever going for Wyoming tags again- they screwed the lousy system one too many times for me. I love the game & country too, but they absolutely stink with what they did starting with the Pref Points mess some years ago- just another suckers game to extract $$$ from NR’s.
I’ve hunted every year since ‘78 starting with antelope , my very favorite big game . 😁 I’m not playing their outrageous game any more.
Sorry for up & comers & youngsters especially- it’s been a lot of fun, until NOW.

Thanks for what you did do. Wish more non rezi’s would throw in the towel so we could get those tags in the hands of residents. Especially those of us who would pay a lot more to make up any difference in lost revenue.

Was hoping to draw Wyoming unit 7 bull tag but didn't. My buddy with 1 point less than me drew.
I was a Resident about 15 years ago & drew Unit 7 elk- hunted & reconed the entire season- very tough to close that gap on the elk after start of season ! Very very wild & stay that way. We saw a number of huge bulls, but in the distance thru
spotting scopes. Not easy to even get any decent shot. We camped out in an RV- super lovely country, but so much is Private Land that charges big $$$$ as you can guess. It will take a lot of preparation & luck if not on Private Land.
The really big bulls are there - 350 types plus.
Best of luck next year !

I drew Unit 60 Antelope with 17NR points. Regular price.
You did extremely well !! 60 is a tough unit to crack- I’ve been all over that unit with a great guide some years ago- 10 full days. Never did find a sure fire 🔥 smoker buck that would top 84 net which was my goal . Tag soup season .
One of best areas I saw was Cyclone Ridge & surrounding areas, plus the Honey Combs west of there too. South of Honey Combs is a very big area I call The Big Empty- almost never saw another hunter even near that area- some big bucks frequent that area daily. 👏
Best of Luck ! It’s a fun hunt but very frustrating too- so much country to cover !!!
Best Wishes,
Jerry Gold In Windsor, Colorado 🍀😁🇺🇸
