Where have all the bears gone?

I live in far north eastern Ca. A few years ago I could not drive in the woods without seeing multiple sets of fresh bear tracks. This year, deer hunting in C zone I don't know if I even saw a bear track. Where did they go? Low elevation? Sure wood like to crack another.
Thanks

I wondered the same thing this year. I didn't see a single bear or much fresh sign while deer hunting. Could it be that competition from wolves and cats are causing them to starve? Seems like the fawn crop is smaller than it was a couple years ago in the area I hunt.

I never thought of them starving from competition. Hard to believe that that could be the case but I am no expert for sure. In 2017 I shot a big boar with my bow, that year there were so many tracks I could not count them all. In fact, the bear I shot was chasing another bear and I was able to get him to stop and make the shot. I missed the first, lol

They are around, saw 4 in d zone, heard one tearing up stumps, logs, but only 1 in c, few buddies and I were talking about the lack of sightings... walked one ridge, had a ton of sign, but no hair spotted.... weird.
