Chicago police will no longer be allowed to chase people on foot
The new policy gives the department permanent rules about when officers can and can't engage in an activity that can endanger themselves, those they're chasing and bystanders.

This is good news. About time we consider the safety of criminals. It makes you wonder what the cut off on pursuits will be in 15 years? This could be tempting for a police officer to recommend the person flees so they can’t pursue them. Either way, it’s a great way to pass the blame and a good excuse why you couldn’t make an arrest.
