I had a doctors appointment the other day and I stopped off at Big R like I do everytime I'm in the area wheather I need something or not. Lol Anyway when I came out to my jeep to leave I see antler tines sticking up over the bedrails of a truck parked behind me so naturally I went to look thinking it was a elk or deer. It was a moose head!! They were just laying there in the bed with a bunch of other construction tools and materials. I guess the owner was not at all concerned they could walk away. Not the biggest moose and the antlers were painted on one side but I decided to wait and see if I could talk to the owner. I waited about 15 min and a younger Mexican man came out to the truck. I started talking to him in Spanish inquiring about the moose. He said his cousin gave it to him and I asked if his cousin had killed it and he said yes. I asked if he would sell them and he said I don't know what they are worth but is $20 okay? What!!! I asked if he was sure and he said yeah. I asked if he had change since all I had was a $50.00 bill. He said no so I ran into the store to break the 50. Came out and gave him 20 bucks and grabbed the skull from his truck. The rack has a strap on one antler at the base that has WY 2010 and some other numbers including $8.00 stamped on it so I know it's legit. Maybe they bought it as well? I don't know but i was stoked. I removed most of the surface paint but the black out line and yellowish and blue and the paint on the front tines will not come off!! I've googled how to's, tried scraping, acetone, goof off, hand cleaner, hand sanitizer, WD40, soap and water and a lil gas. Nothing takes the paint off. The antlers are pretty solid and not chalky.
