Well, hunted hard for a week and were able to harvest a couple nice X zone bucks!

Well, we got very lucky as a party and drew in the random as we had no where near the points needed to draw.

Started off hunting the high desert country on the NV border. This unit used to have some good country there, but all we found was feral horse. They absolutely crushed the range land and most springs and water holes. Sad to say the least. We did see more Chukar than you could imagine. It’s going to be a banner year for those guys.

We decided to head into the higher country, which was a good decision. Drove as high as we could and headed out on foot. Came across my buck bedded as deep as possible in super thick chapperel. All I could see was his face and those chocolate antlers sticking out. Was able to anchor him at 168 yards. He was the smaller body of the two and had lots of black tail traits. Very happy as he is my best CA buck.

Worked hard the next few days and located a small group of deer a little lower in the Sage and oak country. While glassing at first light, my buddies buck was seen with two other nice bucks running from the oaks to Sage and buck brush thicket. They never came out and we assumed they bedded as it was right in a perfect shaded area. We snuck in to 75 yards and jumped the bucks out of bed. My buddy made a quick shot at 100 yards and we were tagged out.

His buck had much more of the Muley traits and was much larger in body size. So crazy as they were killed within a mile or two of each other.

It was just a real pleasure to explore some country in CA and enjoy such success.

Also added these guys. Couple bucks I let some friends shoot on our ranch in the Bay Area. Been a good season so far.
