I meant to imply that I got likkered up from the morphine given to me by EMS on the way to the hospital.I'm a stone thrower every couple of years. Mostly flush out in a day or two. A couple required hospital visits, including adventure like feddoc's, but without the pre-removal alcohol. Twasn't fun.
Do you remember the docs name?I have had them a couple times in the past... once on a unit 1 AZ elk hunt back in about 2001. Ended up at the little hospital between Pinetop and showlow where they put a few things in the IV and I was knocked out sleeping for about 4 hours. I had not slept the previous 2 nights from the pain. Woke up and went to the bathroom and peed through a strainer. 3 small stones came out (looked like 3 large grains of jagged sand). They wanted to life flight me home which I denied and had to sign 30 pieces of paper (liability waiver stuff). Went back to camp and got a good night sleep and killed my elk the next morning.
Thankfully I have passed them all by peeing them out.
Got a good tip from a retired Navy flight Doc who told me that in med school his roommate would get them often. He would take 5 ibuprofen and drink an 18 pack of keystone light and pass his every time. This method worked for me the second time I felt the pain coming on.

holy cow. 16 mm is a trophy. I have had one small one. Good luck. ouchieAnyone have one removed I have a 16 mm currently
That sounds awful big to remove without going up through your Hissing Lizard and breaking it up in lots of pieces.Anyone have one removed I have a 16 mm currently
Yeah there gonna use shock waves to break it up only thing that sucks is my surgery is 2 weeks awayThat sounds awful big to remove without going up through your Hissing Lizard and breaking it up in lots of pieces.
Had it done twice. Cost me a November hunt once. It's not to enjoyable but it's one of those things that you just gotta do what ya gotta do.
If there is a good time to deal with it at least it's now and not in the Fall!
That's ridiculous! Did they give you anything for the pain?Yeah there gonna use shock waves to break it up only thing that sucks is my surgery is 2 weeks away
Yeah but I don’t like to take hard pain pills so I’ve been using ibuprofen 800 but will use the hard stuff if it gets to painfulThat's ridiculous! Did they give you anything for the pain?
I hear ya this is my eighth one 2 had min the emergency room I’ve passed all but this oneI’ve had 2. Took a 1.5 hour drive to the hospital. I literally thought I was dying.
That is tough. I know on one of mine I was all but in a fetal position in the passenger side almost down on the floorboard.I’ve had 2. Took a 1.5 hour drive to the hospital. I literally thought I was dying.
Nobody volunteers for another kidney stone.I had 4 stones try to pass all at once. 2 came with flomax. 2 wouldn't pass, and it was 2 weeks of H3LL before they could get me in for lithotripsy. I had 2 women tell me they would rather give birth than pass a kidney stone.
i have probably had close to 20. First 2 were 4-5mm and I ended up in the ER. I was told that is as big as most people can pass. Most of the others were 2-3mm including a pair I had 5 miles back in the Sangres. Hydrocodone goes with me on my backcountry excursions. Those 2 I passed a couple days later in town. Oh yea, 16 mm is a trophy. I would have a ring or necklace made.I hear ya this is my eighth one 2 had min the emergency room I’ve passed all but this one
Maybe this is why I haven't had stones in a while. I started taking a magnesium supplement about 8 years ago for its other health benefits.Depending on what your stones are made up of, supplementing with Magnesium can help.
The last one was calciumDepending on what your stones are made up of, supplementing with Magnesium can help.
Mine was same, try magnesiumThe last one was calcium
I didn't have one removed but did pass it on the last night before they were going to go up and take it out. I pissed blood for a week after.Anyone have one removed I have a 16 mm currently
Hahahahaha thank you.I didn't have one removed but did pass it on the last night before they were going to go up and take it out. I pissed blood for a week after.
They say that it is the closest a man will experience to having a baby.
The funny thing is when I got to the hospital all the wards were full except the Maternity ward so that is where they put me. I fit right in with all the women screaming in pain Lol
Good luck hopefully you pass it otherwise you piss like a cow on a flat rock and can't be too far from a bathroom for weeks
Had emergency surgery Friday night I have a stent in not to bad but very uncomfortable. Thanks for the check up !Hey Mule, How you holding up with that kidney boulder?
Yeah my stent is very uncomfortable it comes out Thursday thoughGlad it's out. Them stents can be uncomfortable. Had one that was no problem and another that sucked. Hurt everything I started to pee.
Did they put you under to take it out? Finally got the stent out and feeling much better that was a rough week
Unfortunately no it hurt like hellDid they put you under to take it out?
Yes much better they did a lithotripsy went up through the pee hole laser the stone to break it up took out in peace’s still passing small stones today but the pain is manageableKidney's are nothing to take for granted. They are one of the few of our organs that do not naturally repair. Proper hydration is key. As others have mentioned, low-sugar lemonade works for prevention in some cases.
Urethra stents usually pulled out via a string. No medication required.
Large stones like Muleman1 reported typically need surgery. Surgery often requires subcutaneous procedure. (Technical term for poking a hole in you.)
I trust Muleman1 is doing much better post procedure.
I feel your pain. My first stone resulted in a stint. When it was time for it to come out, the doc said, we can take it out in my office. It's no big deal, it takes about 5 minutes. Well about 45 minutes later and still struggling to get hold of it. He then inserted a catheter to drain the bladder, then went back to work. It was brutal but he finally got hold of the stint and pulled it out. It took over a week for the bleeding to stop. Freaking moron!Unfortunately no it hurt like hell
Dang I’m sorry just the 5 min it took him was miserable. Couldn’t imagine any longerI feel your pain. My first stone resulted in a stint. What do you do to prevent them ?I feel your pain. My first stone resulted in a stint. When it was time for it to come out, the doc said, we can take it out in my office. The last one I had sent me to the emergency room, which was about two years ago. I passed it the next day but then I did some research and I started taking a supplement called " chanca piedra" about a year ago. It's supposed to break up the stones before they develop. So far so good. What do you do to prevent them ?
I’ll try that how often do u take itThe last one I had sent me to the emergency room, which was about two years ago. HahahahahahahaMy doctor has me drinking low sugar cranberry juice or now my wife has found me cranberry pills I have had no issues for years.
I don't know if you had a female or male doctor but I had a female doc and the last day before she released me from the hospital she came in had everyone leave pulled the drapes. She then pulled up my hospital gown and then get down there and just looked at my private parts....I had to address the elephant in the room and asked are you looking to see if I am Ok or If I'm Italian. My wife and son could hear through the curtain and were laughing but she said she could tell I was Italian...........LOL True story If she looked today I'm not sure she could tell if I ever was Italian.
I peed blood clots for 3 -4 days after mine got stuck in the bladder. Doc yanked it out my pee pee.Glad it's out. Them stents can be uncomfortable. Had one that was no problem and another that sucked. Hurt everything I started to pee.
Mine was very dark in color.
I would never wish kidney stoves on anybody. They will make you curl up in a ball and make your eyes water if not out right cry like a baby. That looks painful! My dad used to get them from time to time, he was tougher than boiled owl **** and pain didn’t affect him at all but those kidney stones would shut him right down!
I’ve never had any and hope to hell I never do.
