Hornady Bore Driver FTX

The new Hornady Bore Drivers are the most accurate full bore Bullets I’ve tested. I tried a few different full bore bullets this summer with disappointing results. These Horandy’s shoot 1 inch clover leafs at 100 yards with 105grains of BH out of my knight muzzleloader. I’m looking forward to testing them with one of my CVA’s now that I’ve been able to get my hands on a good stash of bullets.

Deer. I’d like to verify their legal for Colorado because I’d prefer to use them over the power belts. I’d assume they are legal since they’re full bore and not a true sabot. Hornady doesn’t provide any info other than they’ve reached out to the various state agencies for confirmation.

They would be great for deer but marginal for elk. But def better than PowerBelts for either. If deer only I think you found a great combo.

Have you tried the new Federal BOR bullets? They come in a 350 gr lead alloy version. If elk is a possibility the bigger size makes me feel more confident.

I’ve tried the Federal BOR several different times and have never been able to achieve any acceptable accuracy with the knight or CVA.

Accuracy trumps size. It appears to be a well constructed bullet. Put it where it belongs and it should do the job.

I’m looking forward to seeing how they perform on game. I suspect they’ll perform quite well with the interlock ring that Hornady uses. I’ll report back later if my son is fortunate enough to tag an elk next weekend (still checking to verify legal status). Otherwise, they’ll be my go to for deer.

My son didn’t tag an elk so nothing to report there. However, we did hammer a couple of whitetails and they performed nicely. I didn’t think to take pictures of the bullets.

They'll Shoot 150-200 Grains Of Powder With PYRODEX!

But By Shot # 4 You Can't Reload Them Due To A CRUD Ring From That PYRODEX TRASH!

Yeah. I would like to see sub 1/2” groups with open sights at 100. Trust but verify.

Also, I would not trust this bullet in anything big pushed that hard.

The bullet performed great for me in Colorado. Roughly 175 yards 100 grains of Pyrodex. In a Thompson, black diamond. I did not find the bullet. It was not a pass through.

This is the 290 grain bore driver from my sons buck, I weighed it when I got home and it weighed 288gr pretty good performance in my opinion, I did not clean it up to get the meat out of it so it may have been a little lighter. It was pushed with 120gr of 777 at 170 yards with a traditions 1x scope.

I recovered the 350 grain FPB bullet from my kids elk this year and I set it on a log…… I wish I would have put it in my pocket because I forgot it in the woods, but I was pretty impressed with how it held together.

Those bullets are super hard to find. I’m down to just a handful of them.
