They’re a little late for that. When BC stopped hunting G bears, the population started to blow up. I have personally seen more than one less than 100 yards from the Washington border. They are not afraid of travel and without a doubt spend at least some time in Washington. So… the bears are gonna be there either way. Seems a shame to waste that money on this when it could go to a more sound effort elsewhere…

Until there is a management plan that includes the option for States to utilize recreational hunting, then the answer should be NO. My personal feeling is that they don't need to be anywhere in the lower 48. Black Bears are just fine and much less of a threat to humans.
