My new D300 arrived from Cameraland on Friday and I got a chance to try her out today. There are a ton of features I still have to understand and utilize but so far I'm lovin' it!

Now if I could just afford that new 600 VR lens, I'd be set.

The game park where I do my photography practicing has all the elk it wants so they gave all the bulls vasectomies, so they still grow antlers but can't impregnate the cows. Since the cows aren't ever successfully bred, they come into heat several times over the course of the fall and early winter months. Sporadic rutting behavior can be seen during that entire time. The bull in the photo never made a sound, but I got lucky and captured the pose.

Beautiful pics. Vascectamies for elk rather than increasing hunting opportunities eh? Political correctness will be the downfall of western civilization as we know it. What's next? Coyote condoms? whitetail abortions? Sometimes i just gotta shake my head.
