Do the deer ever recover after this winter?

To each their own. I have no desire to shoot a doe muledeer, cow moose, or ewe. But I like doe antelope and cow elk. Both make great family and kid hunts. If the populations are strong why not. Get out, have fun, and get some good ratting meat.
 
What is better for the deer herd today than it was 20 years ago?
I think we may have experienced the best year of hunting for many years last year in these hard hit areas.
Would gladly be wrong though.
 
I'd be curious to see how he looked coming into winter.

Those echo bulls for the most part I thought looked pretty good in March.

Having said that there is elk in South Weber which I don't remember ever, so there's no doubt winter has been tough.View attachment 106855

How imperative are fences everywhere really and I wonder how many deaths we don't see.
