I bought a little fishing boat this spring with the goal of getting better at catching macks since they're my favorite local fish to eat. I've managed to catch a few this summer but lucked onto this one last weekend!
I caught her while trolling and had about 12 feet of line past the diver.... safe to say I hadn't really thought it through how I was going to get a fish in the boat alone with that setup. Lost my net as I was trying to net it and thought the hook was going to pop out any second so I panicked and managed to get my fingers in the gills at the last second.
Made for a good story and an even better meal (the fillets look horrible because the recipe I followed had me slice cubes in them for the sauce).
