arrow weight for moose

I may be in the wrong area but I don't see a place for traditional archery. I"ve shot a compound for many years. Recently about 4 years ago I got tired of it and went back to a recurve by Brackenbury. I'm only shooting about 60 pounds or so at 27 inches. I'll be taking it on a trip to Alaska in 2006. I'm starting to wonder about arrows and weight. I'm going to shoot a 2 blade fixed blade head. Maybe Zwickey, but something like that. Maybe a land shark even. Even though I'm shooting a recurve I'm not thrilled with cedar shafts. I"d sure like to shoot carbon type arrows. Anyone got any input that doesn't require going back to a compound?

Thanks, Jeff

Well I'm not a stick shooter yet, but I have looked around a little. It seams that most shooters are shooting arrows from 8-10 grains per pound of draw.

Good luck in Alaska, that is my dream trip.

A lot of Trad shooters are taking carbon shafts and putting heavey brass inserts in them to add 100 to 200 extra grains up front on the point. they are getting great results with this method vs adding weight to the inside of the shaft with weedeater line or tank tubing. Go to www.stickbow.com or www.tradgang.com and ask this question and you will get a ton of info. Good luck on your hunt!!
