Archery elk crowd quiet

Season is wrapping up and not one post on experiences in the field. Sad commentary on state of this forum. Been warm but bulls should be firing up. Headed up to prep for a 10/1 rifle opener. Few buddies are finishing archery on same unit and one tagged out yesterday.

Good luck.

Controlled hunt on the 1st?

You should do well this week. It was actually a really good season. I was in elk daily, had two really good chances on nice bulls. Bad luck on one big 6 and a bad decision on one really heavy 5. That’s archery hunting, live with those things. I’ll never be able to explain what happened in that 6. He shoulda been dead, 12 yards, and he just stopped and turned around. Didn’t wind me, didn’t see me, second time in two years I’ve been at full draw on him with no shot. He’s a smart one.

Anymore i think peak rut is first week of October . Go knock down a big one!

Tag soup for my brother and I in Unit 43. We had two really good days of action. Had a raghorn bull sneak in to 35 yards while working another bull and he busted me when I drew my bow. We had two bulls get into a 15-20 minute fight about 100 yards from our camp at midnight one night. We hunted for a total of 6 days. after day 2 someone started running hounds and we didn't see any elk the rest of our trip. My 13 yr old has a youth rifle buck tag in 47 that we will be hunting on opening day this saturday.

If you don't like the other public using public lands then hunt further away from the roads.
Did I say that he didn't have every right to be there? No, I did not. Do I think it should be legal to hunt with hounds during archery deer and elk season? No, but what he was doing was legal. We could hear his hounds from 3-4 miles away. It's not like we were road hunting. It sucks but there was nothing we could do about it.

Merely suggesting hunting where the hound guys aren't.
That dude was all over the place. We attempted to hunt where the hound guy wasn't. We moved areas, next day, he was near where we moved to. We didn't have time to move camp and learn a completely different side of the unit. Like I said it sucked, but not much else we could do.

Don’t pay any attention to him. 99% of his posts are just finding a thread I post on and then acting like a jsckazz. He’s kinda my stalker. It worried me a bit at first but now I find it kind of flattering
