BTW- since you brought it up- the civil war was NOT directly about slavery. It was about state rights. The north was not forcing the southern states to stop slavery. Instead, the south decided on succession from the US since Republicans had gained control of the country. Ya, slavery was part of their concern- but the war was about succession.
