Allison Tranny problem?

I checked my tranny fluid yesterday & it didn't even show on the dipstick,I knew it was leaking but I had no idea it was this low.
I looked in my shed & found 3 new quarts of synthetic 75W140,pored them in and was still about a pint/quart low.
Seemed Ok yesterday while driving it but when I started it up this morning I could verly get the truck to move,it seemed really stiff?
Called one of my friends & he said I put the wrong fluid in it?
I then got to thinking,I've always had standard tranny's & had always used the 75W140
My friend said I'd best get it in and get the tranny flushed, but when I pulled in & told the guy at the shop what I'd done he wouldn't touch it,said he didn't want anything to do with it,he did say maybe I should take it home & pull the pan off & see what it looks like.
So,I get the pan almost off, that's when I notice I've got the oil pan pulled lose off the engine rather than the transmission, dang!
So I get that back on & pull the pan off the tranny, only to notice the tranny fluid is now set up like jelly,I really don't know what to do now?
Anybody know what I could put in the tranny to break the Jelly down?

Just leave the pan off the motor...Oil pans are over rated and engines run just fine without them...

Put it in the microwave. It turns jello runny. Either that or swish it back and forth between your teeth.

You find out who your friends are when you see who shows up to help pack your bull out!

Okay, lets get this straight.

You said it is an Allison, but, you also said you put manual transmission fluid in it.

Is it a Auto or a Manual????

If it is a Automatic, that tranny is coming out and will need to be gone through. Should not have to many hard parts.

If it is a manual, its coming out most likely also.

AyA....you have set up your truck to be a rolling snack shack, first the french fry oil..then the radiator eggs..now jelly in the tranny! I applaude you because i have NEVER seen anyone accomplish even remotely close to what you have been able to do in just the last month! You my friend are the king!!

You got an owners manual with that truck? You should take it out and read it..you can skip the chapters about french frys and jelly since you have been there already.
I dont think your supposed to mix synthetic with regular oil..but since it was 75w140 it probably didnt mix anyway...so no harm no foul.

Im just givin you a hard time...but man you would be a kick to have around the campfire telling your stories...loads of laughs....good luck with your truck. And if all else fails, maybe Wendys or Burger King could help ya out.

So let me get this straight - you have a problem with a tranny named Allison?

Yeah - I'd say that was a problem.

Or am I missing something...?

dude your a crack up you would probably be better off to cut your losses and sell your truck,go buy your self a horse or a donkey. oh never mind you would probably forget to feed and water it. you should just stick to walking oh wait you might hurt yourself maybe you could just call a friend and bum a ride where ever you need to go.

Just when I thought the worse was over I was spraying WD40 into what I could to get the jelly stuff out best I could. I found small pipe cleaners could work back in the small areas were I couldn't get my rags. Well woulnd't you know it a clear I rigged up to a metal hanger the tape breaks and it falls into a crack. Using a magnet on extender I tired for the next ten minutes to get that dang thing. I finally got the cleaner tip out but each time I was bringing out small parts of metal. Back in a side area i put the magnet in and this stuff just keeps coming out. I think I may have been sold a lemon cause this is not just jelly this is real metal parts of stuff. Plus why would it loose fluid like that to begin with?

I'm so screwed on this deal. my loan is upside down and my insurance agent just laughed when I called him about having them fix it for me. I'd have to get at least 29k out of it to pay my loan off and start over.

I think
>I may have been sold
>a lemon cause this is
>not just jelly this is
>real metal parts of stuff.
> Plus why would it
>loose fluid like that to
>begin with?

Yea right now your going to blame this mess on somebody else! So now your going to try and be moron who thinks he's entitled to something! I wonder if you could hitch hike without mucking that up? Probably would use the wrong finger!

I'd say those filings did not come out of any tranny. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

I really hope that there is no one that is really that stupid. Those shavings do look alot like pipe machine shavings.

I would certainly think that if you had THAT many shaving in your pan, that tranny would have locked up LONG ago!!

Hit up Stinkstomper, i think he's about to part out his 2010 Chevy because they won't back the warranty, i beleive the tranny was the only thing that has not fallen off! ;-)

Yep it looks like your brain!

Well thanks guys,
Without your help I just mighta been taken to the cleaners dealing with an unhonest transmission shop.
The owner of the garage sent me that picture, then I posted it here & thanks to the MM detectives, without your help I'd of never known I was dealing with another thief.
Anyway,I got in a big argument with him today about being dishonest.
The bill is gonna be right around 5600.00,anybody know if that is too much money to rebuild & beef an Allison up?
When I bounced him about the picture he admitted that wasn't out of my transmission,he said it's just a picture he uses to show people what ground up metal out of a tranny looks like.
Don't really know what to do?
He's got the old tranny pulled out & I don't have much choice but to have him fix it,anybody know if 5600.00 is about what I should be paying?
Thanks again, without your help I'd probably be getting bent over worse than I am.

LAST EDITED ON May-03-10 AT 05:17PM (MST)[p]You better pay it. $5600 to get bent over is right up your alley.

What a maroon! DOLT!

I'm sure the transmission mechanic admitted all his gulilt, why don't you. And the lie goes on!

No,I'm sure the thief didn't admit to all of his guilt.
But what am I gonna do?
He has my truck,he's pulled the tranny out,he's pulled the tranny apart.
If I had my choice it wouldn't be him working on it after I know what I know now,but it's too late,I made a poor decision.

A buddy just had his Allison go out in his Chevy. Only $4500 to replace.

I think AyA is stinky trying to be funny.

You find out who your friends are when you see who shows up to help pack your bull out!

Ok,
I should be getting my truck back late this afternoon,I'll let you guys know how everything goes & thanks.

No THANK YOU for the entertainment. The mechanic I go to thought it was great too!

Those metal shavings must mean that the inside of your tranny is really, really rough. Go to the parts store and buy a couple of tubes of valve grinding compound. It really will end the rough shifting you had.
