My brother and I drew deer 62 rifle 3rd season, we have spent some time on the unit getting familiar with areas, we understand that depending on the weather the deer can be strung from the divide road down to the river.
I'm starting to get an idea of what to expect on the hunt searching other threads on here.
I hear it's zoo with OTC elk hunters.
Is what I don't know, is what should I expect for deer quality?
If y'all don't mind sharing some pictures and stories from previous hunts from that area, it would be greatly appreciated.

Bringing this post back to the top, being 3rd season is a week away.
I'm pretty excited to be going on this hunt with my brother we haven't hunted together for a couple of years now.
Looks like snow is in the forecast for next week.
How much snow is on the ground now?
Our plan as of now is to hunt the long mesa area. Kinda curious if its even accessible by 4-wheeler?
What's everyone's thoughts on deer quality on this unit?
Depending on service I'll keep you all posted on how the hunt goes.

Hopefully these pictures post. I killed these bucks in CO unit 62. They came from the same general area. Northern end of the unit.

i have the points and was considering doing 62 3rd season next year or 551 3rd. those are nice bucks!!! i hope you kill a good buck justhunt
I'll do my best keep y'all posted through the hunt, not sure what I'll have for service, and besides being disconnected for a few days ain't so bad either.

Stay tuned........

I'm hearing report that there is some good snow up at that elevation, we might find ourselves hunting a little lower 🤷‍♂️
That’s where the deer will be anyway, down in the canyon bottoms. Snow line is about 5800’ right now. I’m sure they got a bunch more up top, probably in the 10-12” range. The soil is still pretty warm so I’d expect much of that to have melted by Saturday. It’s going to be muddy once the morning freeze has melted out.
