Howdy all,

My son drew the first rifle season deer tag. It was a nice surprise. Going to hunt the last week of the season. We haven't hunted the unit before, so we have been gathering as much intel as possible. Sounds like it should be a fun hunt. We had a hunting buddy in the unit during the archery season that gave us some good intel and areas to check out. We aren't sure if any of those animals will be even remotely close to where they were in archery but it's somewhere to start. Any info or pictures of past bucks taken from the unit would be great. I'm like a 10 yr old kid, love to look at pictures. Feel free to keep any responses or pictures private and PM me.

Thx!
Brian

How did it go?

Hey Mountain Mayne,
Well with no thanks to anyone on this site he was able to harvest a nice 4pt. We had a general idea of the area but it’s a good sized unit. For a tag he will probably never get again I thought I might get a message or two. PM’s whatever. Pics, nada from anyone. Wasn’t looking for GPS coordinates of anyone’s secret basin. Just some chatter about the unit in particular more than anything else. I thought these forums were about camaraderie and helping a fellow hunter out and maybe getting something in return down the road. I guess in today’s secret squirrel world I’m probably naive but I’m happy to help a fellow hunter out if possible without blaring it out to the world. Enough of my rant that no one gives a sh!t about. Back to the hunt, more elk and moose were spotted than deer. A few stud bull elk and a couple dandy bull moose as well. Beautiful country to be in. Lots of hikers and off roaders on the weekend. True to my word above, I’m happy to help anyone with the limited amount of knowledge I have of the unit. Shoot me a PM. I will actually respond.
