.277/ 300 win mag

I have a Bansner Sheep Hunter in 270 WBY and I love it. in a custom chamber they cut the free bore out and it makes them basically like any other cartridge. they do it on all the WBY chamberings I've seen.

About the same cost as a weather mark V delux ?

No, it's a full custom by Mark Bansner. but any good gunsmith will cut the chamber with no free bore.

There are many smiths that can do an excellent build to your specs. there's a guy in Bend OR that's building guaranteed tack drivers at very reasonable prices.

In production rifles the options are pretty limited in a 270 magnum.

You can buy or form 270 WBY brass, not a problem.

The 270 Nosler may make the most sense, but I'd rather have the 28 Nosler than any 270 magnum. the .284 caliber has been stealing the thunder from the .264 and .270 bores since 1962 and it always will.

That's true, who doesn't love Jack O'Connor. but the 270 was really only a big success with his 270 Winchester. everything else in that caliber has just been an also ran.

Having owned/shot every iteration of magnum 270, they all fail to impress and do nothing that a vanilla 7mm Remington magnum doesn’t do with same weighted bullets.

Even the 27 nosler? Which also sound pretty America **** yeah

I ask about the 300 necked down to .277 because I have a 30-06 and a .270 and just necked down some 30-06 into .270 for fun. so myself not finding that to bad was curious if anyone had some results like chronograph speeds with a .277/300 win mag.

But yes the .27 nosler or .270 wby seem like easier alternative. To answer an un asked question is that yes the 300 win mag ia the easiest option and I just need to not be a whimp and shoot 300win mag

I had lots of wildcats built over the years because I thought it was cool to be different. and for a while it was fun until I realized it was only fun for conversation because ballistically I was wasting my time and money . I'm over it now.

The .264 Win mag and 300 win mag are and always will be my all-time favorites. but the 28 Nosler is probably the best all around chambering for game up to elk ever . I'd let the .270 caliber go and go with the .284. you won't regret it.
