Just returned from hunt. Had a few rain out days and managed to call in a bull on 4th day of hunting. He came running down thru the aspens above me to within 15 yards. When I first spotted him I'd just finished a calling sequence and was standing there waiting. His head went behind a tree and I kneeled down behind an aspen shoot and nocked an arrow. He stopped at about 15 yards and dropped his head to nibble on something and in doing so turned broadside. I quickly drew, centered pin, and released. He ran parallel along hillside and I started cow calling to stop him. He stopped and then disappeared over a rise in hillside. I found him piled up not far from there. Complete pass thru so I was very thankful for a good shot. He'll taste good this winter.....Using a Matthews Reezen 6.5, Goldtip Expedition Hunter 5575/400 arrows, Shuttle T Lock 125 Grain broadheads, and an HHA 1 pin sight....

Just seen your screen name, are you from the "Iron-range"?

I grew up south of Grand Rapids about 11 miles.

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

Yes, mntman, born in Crosby, moved to Babbitt when I was two, went to school in Duluth after high school....thanx all....it was very satisfying....more confidence going forward....

Cool, used to have some relatives that lived in Babbit, long gone now. Like that area up there though, especially the Isabella area. We drew a moose tag in 1996 :)
congrats again on a successful elk hunt!
