I'm currently working on two other loads.
Berger Bullet 140 gr vld hunting
Winchester Brass
CCI 250 primers
H1000
66 Grains
OAL 3.300
140 gr XLC
Winchester brass
US869
74 grains
OAL 3.300
I post results after I hit range tomorrow

Good Job 68;

I, like you have found the 264 with 7828 to be a very accurate combination. I've been loading:

140 gr. partitions
65.0 grns 7828
3.25 oal

with similar results.

68, +1 here

I worked up this load also using 130 grain AccuBond with MagPro

Remington Brass
CCI 250 LRM
OAL 3.283
68 grains
Velocity 3,111 fps
group .156"

These AccuBond are pretty good bullets just haven't got the chance to test on elk or Mule Deer.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-03-12 AT 05:08PM (MST)[p]First off let me say nice group but its not a .143" group, you need to measure from center to center of the farthest holes and since you have one bullet outside the other two it would have to be at least a .264" group. Here's a link on how to measure groups.

You're getting 6.5x284 velocities out of your 264 Mag you should be able to kick it up a notch and still get good accuracy from your 264.
Here's a group my son shot today out of my custom 264 loaded with 68.5 gr of Retumbo, WW cases, 215M primers and Berger 140 VLD's going 3280 fps out of a 28" Broughton 5r barrel. It's about a .300" group at 100 yards.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a pound of Retumbo, you'll thank me later.

I tried Retumbo could not get it to work in my setup. I have a Weatherby vanguard that I had rechambered to a 264 winchester magnum it has a 26" Shilen barrel and a very tight chamber. It seems I can't get close to velocity like yours. I'm new to reloading but I follow the manual but come way short on velocities. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't want you to ignore the manuals but the reloading data for the 264 in most of the manuals is way out of date. Email Walt Berger at [email protected] for their reloading data for their 130 and 140 grain VLD's and he will send you some updated recipes for the 264 Win Mag. They show 68.5 gr of Retumbo as max with their 140 VLD and I shoot that in 4 264's that I have with zero pressure problems. I just picked up a used Sendero in 264 and the first six shots out of it today produced about a 3/4 inch group. I know that Gunwerks and Greybull Precision use Retumbo in their 264 loads so I know it works quite well. I tried H1000, Re22, IMR4831, Re25 and couldn't get near the speed or accuracy that Retumbo gave me.

I also worked up a load using H4831.
130 grain Accubond
winchester Brass
OAL 3.300
Remington 9 1/2M

velocity 3,180fps
