Don't mean to step into the Wyoming thread, but I think the act of firing a rifle at a game animal is considered hunting. Your hunting tag is probably good for hunting in a specific unit.

I always hunt elk with my 300 WSM Browning X-bolt that I purchased in 2010. Nikon Monarch scope. Just a tack driving setup that I have a lot of confidence in out to 3-4 hundred yards using factory loads. I've often thought about a custom rifle, they look awesome. Maybe someday.

Really have to stop using the term "Secondary Draw" as CPW markets it.

Bingo, the only item CPW charges $0.25 for is the search and rescue fee. But I believe they only charge this for licenses purchased, not applied for.

Or the Game Warden could ask to see your insurance policy when he/she checks you at base camp :unsure:

I just wonder if Utah or Wyoming would allow a draw (that includes premium tags) that gives preference to out of state youth over residents of any age?

No Mas, I threw money at the last two years even though I new it was a youth preference draw. CPAW sure advertises it as if you got a chance. They know exactly what this draw is, why don't they just call it a youth draw.

Several years ago I was looking into a RFW hunt, so I got familiar with the info available. I even sent an e-mail to the CPAW requesting RFW hunter satisfaction survey results (which they actually provided). I never did apply for a RFW tag but I learned a lot.

Not being a jerk but I do wonder why they invited Non-residents to take this survey especially the portions pertaining to tag allocations. What kind of results did they expect from our out of state friends?

Can anyone provide a link to the actual CPW approval to the 80/20 & 75/25 ratios? I can find the 75/25% ratios proposed at the May Commission meeting but not sure if that was approved. Cannot find anything about the 80/20 ratio for high PP units. Thanks

Could be the result of the new Wyoming Regs, 90% Res to 10% non-res I believe. People might be realizing that drawing a Wyoming tag is a dead end so they are applying in Colorado.

I think that whatever the survey results are the CPAW will approve point banking. $$ they can sell multiple tags to someone instead of a single tag. Revenue seems to be the driver in all their decisions.

Tag numbers are finalized by the Commission during one of their spring meetings. Last year it was during the May 4-5 meeting. My guess is that the final tag numbers will be approved during the May 3-4 meeting this year. No idea what they will look like. Link to Commission meetings...

I just have a hard time believing CPAW is concerned about money after getting legislation passed to charge $29 for each vehicle license plate renewal (for a state park pass) starting in 2023. I guess people can opt out but most won't bother due to the complications. Some early numbers project...

Used to bow hunt with our camp set above 10,000 feet. Freaky when the lighting and thunder occur at the exact same time. I remember once I ran from the wall tent with aluminum poles and buried my self in the dirt in a small patch of trees nearby.

The tags I got this year through the re-issue process were not available to put into my cart until several minutes after 11:00. Not high end tags. I'm wondering if anyone got a quality tag in their cart several minutes past the start time?

I was able to get a re-issued buck tag in my elk unit today. Not a premium tag for sure but it's nice to have. 2 tags available for this hunt code. A little strange, I started entering the code around 10:55, got to the screen to add it to my cart at 11:06, but then after adding it to my cart...

I was able to pick up a re-issued cow elk tag. I believe it was around 11:03 before the site allowed me to proceed and add it to my cart. Tried multiple times before 11:00 but the site kept saying the tag was not available on the leftover list
