A hunt is not always about a punched tag, that's for sure.
I hope Zim punches a tag, but I'm pretty sure he was looking for an experience and willing to eat his tag to gain that experience, based upon things he's said previously.
The only person that has to be satisfied with his hunt is him. I hope he tags out, as that would be an awesome end to what has been a fun follow.
You and I agree quite often. I donāt keep score but we probably agree more often than we disagree.
āA hunt is not always about a punched tag, that's for sure.ā
I agree when you say ānot alwaysā. I disagree vehemently when it comes to hunts like Zimās Pauns hunt.
A Limited Entry Mule Deer Tag took decades for him to draw. Lord knows, heās ranted, raved, and cursed UTards over how long itās taken to draw this tag. I get the sense heās not a 2 percenter, when comes to wealth, so heās like a lot of folks, rather heavily invested in this ādeer huntā, both monetarily and in time, in this effort.
Yes, itās an amazingly beautiful place to hunt. Yes heās seen numerous mature bucks, some are apparently the best the Unit has to offer, which is nothing to sneeze at. Point being, this not an average annual hunt, thatās been done many times before and will be repeated many times again. Itās special.
Itās a hunt with a hope and yes a desire for a special outcome. Itās ānotā primarily a hope for a great outdoor outing. That wasnāt the intent to begin with and it was not what was invested in and work hard and sometimes impatiently for. The goal was taking home a great mature mule deerā¦ā¦. first and foremost anything short of that outcome would be disappointing to most of us and why shouldnāt it be.
Iāve havenāt hired many outfitters in my life but I have hired a few. When, in my search for an outfitter that I hoped could deliver what I was wanting, said to me, āitās not about what you shoot or donāt shoot, itās the experience youāll have in this special placeā, I immediately go looking for a different outfitterā¦.. one that knows and demonstrates, Iām not hiring someone to deliver a special experience in the great outdoors. I donāt need to spend $10,000 to $15,000 to see beautiful flora and fauna, I can do that without hiring him or his people.
As cool as the Pauns is, in numerous ways, Kim spent years planning for this hunt. A hunt with a hoped for outcome, I donāt think itās fair to blow his efforts, hopes and dreams off by saying, āitās not always about punching a tagā.
My opinion is the opposite, this time. I believe this place, this hunt, etc. is in fact all about punching a tag and nothing, on this particular hunt, is about anything but that. If that makes sense.
Yup, I know, different strokes for different folks, as for me, Iāll be disappointed for him, if he doesnāt take home what he came for. I certainly would be disappointed if I were him.
Hope itās a last day, last ray, hunt at this point. It definitely can happen like thatā¦ā¦ā¦ if the stars line up.
