Park fire (c4 zone)

Dang, sorry to hear that. Were the cabins in Mill Creek? Fire got about two and a half miles from our ranch. They've been getting a lot of water from our springs and using a couple of our ponds as dipping spots with the helicopters.

Couple miles north.
Right across from Panther springs,
they call it the boondocks.

My first few deer were all from the mill creek area
 
So sorry to hear... feel sick to my stomach for the migration deer heard, show up to the traditional winter grounds, all the feed is burned up...was talking to a couple of other guys about supplemental feeding, but know our dfg won't do that...

It will be hard on them at first, but the new growth and a healthier forest will be beneficial.
Wish they would do more prescribed burns

Yes, we live on the ranch. There's two helicopters dipping from my pond as I type this. I think they're trying to knock down some hot spots up on Inskip.
 
The wind is not helping their efforts this afternoon. 😤

I am sorry to hear about your cabin. You are right about the habitat, however. The challenge will be getting DFG to look out for the deer as the vegetation returns. Too often, timber companies and USFS put all of their attention into growing timber, and kill the oaks and other plants the deer need. The country around Almanor is looking very good for deer, but I doubt that it will last if hunters don't make their voices heard.
 
Janesville is damn near due east, about 60 miles.. don't think smoke will be a issue....or fire, but who knows.

CalFire and the USDA fire fighters are working hard on that fire. They have a small town worth of fire fighters working on it. Think of the logistics. Hope all the fire fighters come out of it OK. I think the fire fighters are doing a terrific job.
Sorry for those who have lost homes and cabins.
I used to enjoy the late summer and fall time of the year the most. Since 2017, I worry the whole time about fires. They seem to be getting larger and larger.

2015 I was on a handcrew for the rocky fire, wildland firefighters should be paid double what they’re getting.
 
Good luck to all of you in the fire areas, those firefighters are earning their money the hard way. Sorry for those who are suffering loses of family cabins and homes.

Sorry to hear that. We have a Cabin in Mineral. It's within in 1/4 mile of the burn zone right now. Hopefully it makes it. It's going to be close.
 
Watching them run choppers earlier on watch duty, think the little hot spot is between Childs meadows, and Morgan springs. South of 36... think these boys got it handled, no small task the way this thing ate through the country... thinks again to all firefighters!
