I'm in, what if you did width+height that way it covers the frame of a buck without making it as complicated as an official score
 
I'm in just to have the fun here on MM and see what us MM'ers produce this year. Not planning to get my money back being first year of my dedicated, but may throw the son in. Any good bucks spotted would be sending/trying to get him in on it.

What about just a big buck contest, where we all meet after the hunts, and everyone can vote for which they deem to be the best. Like they did back in they day at hardware stores.
 
Make scoring your contest easier and just weigh the nuts. Chances are the one or two mature bucks that’s shot will shine above all the other yearlings. And while your at it, maybe measure their d’s. Score can then be mass x length.

Of course if length aint your thing, maybe include girth. I’m good with however you choose to score it. For the bucks I mean. 😜

I, encourage dudes to "save the mule deer" by not using their tags, and in 5 years I've yet to see a single vid.

But Bess, the #1 voice against oppurtunity (or hunting for that matter) is now the organizer of the opportunity slaughter fest?

Id call it irony, or hypocrisy, but him having a dedicated tag after years of yapping about opportunists used up those words.

Or perhaps id use them in pointing out the biggest mouth about the DWR only caring about $$$, is now creating a money making venture based on killing deer.

I wasn't sure if "OPPOR-F'N-TUNISTS" (I think that's what I was labeled as once) were allowed to post on this thread, but seems how Hossblur broke the ice, it's probably fine?

Anyways..... I remember my dad and grandpa talking about the big buck contests in the 70s and 80's. We had a few local sporting goods stores that organized them. They had some stories and photos of some giant bucks taken.

Hoss, no offense, but you're obviously dillusional and misinformed. People targeting mature bucks have ZERO impact on the herd quality. With that said, it might explain why elkassassin only sees 2 points breeding their mothers when he does his November rounds. But probably not.

Off topic a bit, but does anyone remember when we could hunt deer every November with muzzle loaders? Those were the days. Hands down my favorite hunt of yesteryear.

Just so I understand. If I go out with my multi season tag and run the crap out of the deer herds in my side by side looking for that 220" buck I passed the year before because I knew he would be a 260"+ deer this year, I have "Basically" not hunted?

It will be up to me to find "quality" deer.
