Zen Ray Ridgefield Spotter

someone posted a review on the opticstalk.com. Since I was looking for 80-85mm full size spotting scope, I didn't pay too much attention to that review

It is a very decent scope. Better than I figured a non ED scope at that price would be. Depending on your use it is well worth the money. If you are CA sensitive the lack of ED glass may be an issue, but I found no objectionable fringing.

The biggest shortcoming is that the fov drops real fast after you hit 30x or so. In the lower ranges it does not seem to be an issue.

It is not going to stand close scrutiny to more expensive ED scopes but for the price bracket it is a good deal.

Comparing this scope against an ED scope is like comparing a Mini Van to a Corvette. Apples and Oranges. This scope is a budget priced scope with extreme clarity. At $279 this spotter is heads above all others at its price point.

Zen Ray does make an ED Spotter called the Zen ED2 Spotter. It should be compared to other ED spotters.
