I would like to take my son deer or lope hunting this fall. He turns 11 on July 3rd. Can he hunt this year? We have no points and would be in deer region D around Encapment , any suggestions on lope units in the area during early Oct?

He can be 11 to apply, so long as he turns 12 before the hunt. Since he is turning 12 on July 3, hunts in September and October should work. Regs state:

o. Minimum Age to Hunt, Youth Licenses. The minimum age to take any
Big Game or Trophy Game animal is twelve (12) years of age. An applicant
may apply for any Big Game or Trophy Game license if he/she is
eleven (11) years of age, but must be twelve (12) years of age when
hunting. Applicants under age fourteen (14) must have a guardian co-sign
any Big Game or Trophy Game application.

sorry. Misread the first email. I now see he is turning 11 on July 3. I don't think he can even buy points this year since he needs to turn 12 in the calendar year for which he is buying points. I've got one turing 11 this year and have been considering the same. If you get at least one point this year, you and your son will have lots of options for antelope with basically half a point each next year.
