Yahoooo! I drew an area 4 permit. If anybody has some leads for me, please let me know.

SBT- dang you, you got my tag!

Just kidding. Congrats on a good tag....Are you looking for help from a guide or are you a WY resident?

Killed the best ram WE found on the unit.We were unguided nonresidents. We did have a resident who went with (for legal B.S. purpose)but he had never been in the unit before. Ram Scored low 150's.
Went in with a couple scouting trips under the belt but no "good" rams were seen on any of these trips. We went in two days prior to the opening of the hunt. We had 5 days, One day in one day to scout, two days to hunt and one day out. There were five of us our plan was to split up different directions find and video all the sheep we each could, meet at camp that night and make a plan to kill the best ram found the first day, leaving one day for error. Which is what we did, killing the ram first thing opening morning. I'm sure there are better rams on the unit but given the time frame and lack of experience in the unit we felt we did the best we could hope for and went home very happy.
Saw lots of sheep but had a hard time finding any older generation rams. Dont know if there was a die off several years ago or what. Had a great time as you usually do when hunting sheep!!!!!!!

Sounds like you busted your ass and got rewarded with a great hunt and a great ram. I got one in unit 7 (non-wilderness portion) about the size of yours in 99. When I made the shot at the bedded ram, another ram old enough to be this one's father stood up behind him in the stunted timber and stared for a minute or so. I guess there's been some dieoff problems in 7 since then.

You see any bears?

No die off in area 4, in fact that area is on the upswing. But if going in cold it takes time to find the better rams. but any class 4 ram is a good ram.
