I apply for Colorado when my plans are going there,bu for Wyoming ,unless i have a particular unit in mind I wait for the leftover license list to come out.Deer and antelope are all over eastern Wyoming and I am willing to hunt anywhere there.
Sometimes the anticipation and planning of the hunt is better than the actual hunt. That said, one of the best hunts I ever had was on leftover licenses after we did not draw and some of the guys who applied in our group dropped out. We hunted an area we never saw before, did not expect much and did well.
I may do that this year, Rem. The only reason I won't is if I can find a hunt I like that I can draw with no points that's closer for me. I'm coming from the West, if I was coming from the East I would do it for sure while I was building up points. There's enough leftover units you can count on that you can start the planning now.
I have hunted a few of the units in Wyoming and for deer I find the eastern units less crowded and just as good for deer on public land and there has been leftovers for there for the last few years.
