I have a Garmin Oregon and am planning on buying a WY chip for my hunt this year. Has anyone used multiple chips and, if so, which one is most user friendly? Never used a chip so not quite really sure what to expect. Thanks!

Steve

Put it in the gps, turn on gps, map shows up when you're in Wyoming. Pretty straight forward.

Download garmin Basecamp and install to pc. Start Basecamp, plug in gps and basecamp will read the gps map and all your tracks and waypoints so you can scout/plan on a bigger screen.

Thanks Bob....that helps a lot. Which map chip do you use? Or do you not need a chip? Will basecamp save to my garmin?

LAST EDITED ON Aug-25-17 AT 05:15PM (MST)[p]I use the onX chips. Very user friendly even for a fella like me. The sticker price might shock you, but it's worth it. I used the Wyoming chip on my scouting trip recently and I was impressed.

Thanks... got on ebay and found an unused, unopened WY chip and got it for $80 so that is better than the $110 I've been seeing.

I believe there was/is a recent update to the WY chip. Not sure what the big updates were.

Where and how would I get the update? Thanks.

If it is a OnX chip I would contact them. I believe they have an update deal. You will just have to contact OnX directly to find out.
