Wyoming elk unit 98

Hello everyone,
I have a WY general elk tag and am planning to hunt the last week of Sept and first week of Oct.
I already have a place picked out to bowhunt the last week of September and am looking at unit 98 to rifle hunt if unsuccessful with my bow.

I have done lots of google map scouting of the unit, but would appreciate it if someone that has been in the area could pm me to help confirm some of my thoughts for finding elk in the non-wilderness parts of the unit.

Anyone spent any time in this unit to offer some information?

Also it looks like this unit requires a special elk management permit, does buying this permit exempt me from needing a conservation stamp or do I need that too?

Everyone needs a Conservation Stamp before they hit the field. Sorry I can't help you with anything else you're asking.

I do know 98 has a limited quota hunt before the general season.

350 permits open there September 20 ..

I'm planning to hunt Oct.1 to Oct 5 on the general tag and just want to make sure I would have all the requirements covered for the unit. I thought I had read that if you buy a feed stamp you don't have to buy a conservation stamp, but I'm not sure where I would have read that.

Strait from the Wyoming web site..

CONSERVATION STAMP REQUIRED. Each person
licensed to hunt or fish in Wyoming shall purchase one
(1) conservation stamp valid for the calendar year. A
conservation stamp is not required for holders of daily
bird/small game licenses, daily fishing licenses, lifetime
conservation stamp holders or holders of pioneer or
pioneer heritage hunting and fishing licenses. The
stamp shall be signed in ink and be in possession
while hunting or fishing. Conservation stamps may be
purchased at license selling agents throughout the state
and at Wyoming Game and Fish Department offices.
