I'm somewhat familiar with the area, but looking for any and all help/suggestions on bowhunting area 40 this year. Copman's Tomb? Sunlight Mesa? Up top on the ridge, or down along the creek?

take the turnoff for hunt mountain up by granite pass and go in several miles. the bulls are up high right now so just be patient and look for sign.

Stay high and find some water, it is hot over there right now and most likely them elk will be hunkered in the timber. Above beaver creek might also be a good place to look. At the end of the road there is a 2 track road that will take you in there a ways and you could take off on foot just about anywhere in there. Not sure on hunting pressure though

LAST EDITED ON Jul-23-08 AT 06:41PM (MST)[p]i killed a 5 pt. bull up on bear creek last year and there was no hunting preasure at all. very hard hunt but i had the whole herd at 40 yrds. from calling once. the satellite bull i killed was 5 yds. and coming when i let him have it. these elk have hardly seen a human let alone an archery hunter.
