Wyoming Draw Question?

I've been studying the WY G&F site trying to understand the NR draw process. Suppose I was considering Region G this year.

If I'm reading this right, if I entered the NR Special draw and paid an extra $240, I would have needed 6 points to draw, with a 58% chance if I had 5. Correct?

But, if I had entered the NR Draw without paying the extra $240, my odds were 81% with 6 points, correct?

But then I see the NR Random Draw results below. What is this draw? Only 54 tags available with 1200 ish first choice applicants. Not very good odds.

I'm sure someone on here knows more about this than me! :D

Seems like you got it. The random draw is a percentage of tags that are set aside that are drawn putting all applicants that apply with their first choice. It gives everyone a chance to draw, even if they don't have the points needed, although it may not be a great chance.

The PP Draws are done first and everyone goes in them even if you don't have any PPs. Some tags are issued in those drawings to people that don't have any PPs if there are a lot of tags allocated to the unit. After those draws are done where 75% of the available tags are allocated the Random Draw is held for the remaining 25% of the tags allocated to a unit and everyone that didn't get a tag in the other draws on their first choice go into that on an equal basis with no PPs used. However, if you get a tag in that draw as a first choice you do lose your PPs and start at zero the following year because you can't draw a first choice tag and buy a PP in the same calendar year.

Mike,
I think I understand what your saying with your, "a lot of tags" statement.Just to clarify for everyone else.
During the preference draw, A guy has no chance with less points if there are guys with more points for the total allotted tags, Right?
In other words for example?
If there are 20 tags in the preference, and 30 guys ahead of you with more points, your not getting a tag with 0 points in preference? Those tags are gone by the time it gets to you with 0.

That is correct Paul! Sorry that I probably didn't "splain" that well enough for guys that are new at the draws, but you did a perfect job at it!
