oats;
I know what you mean about it being hard to draw #48, because it has alot of public land and gets alot of applications from hunters. I have also hunted around area #50 and it has more private ranches and will be harder to find a spot to hunt. I recommend that you get there several days ahead of season and scout the area and try to connect with a rancher for hunting trespass rights. You may encounter some of the ranches tied up by outfitters and it will cost you a arm and leg to hunt their area. Make contact with the local game warden, you can get his number from the F&G office in Cheyenne and ask him for a list of ranchers that will allow free trespass or only charges a reasonable fee. He can give you other pointers also. You can also try the Chamber of Commerce for the closest town in the area you plan to hunt, they sometimes have a list of ranchers that allow hunters on their ranches and sometimes even have the prices the rancher will charge.
