WY Mule Deer - 2 pts

We have two pp's each and want to apply for a mule deer hunt. This will be our first mule deer hunt, hunted antelope out there last year and had a great time, but want to try for deer.

With two points, not sure where to apply for. Would like to apply where we will most likely get drawn and have an oppoprtunity to hunt and it will have to be public ground. I can find plenty of info on where to go to find the biggest bucks, but not as much on where to go just find a buck. Like anyone we would like a bigger deer, but this being our first hunt, we will be happy with a unit we will see several deer.

Looking at G,but just not sure if general is the way to use our points, would a limited unit be a better choice?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chuck

i love hunting region G ,there is still big bucks if you work hard and find places that the road hunters and atvers do not have access to.

u should have a good chance to draw with 2 pts.

Last year we drew G with 2 pnts but only 60 something% with 2 pnts drew so I think it's going to take 3 with a slim chance with 2.

Yep, everyone with <3 PPs drew a tag in Region G in 2010, but it went down to 66% for those with 2 PPs. Therefore, if you really want to hunt out there this year your best bet is to probably buy another PP and put a good second choice in that is guaranteed for a tag if G doesn't come through for you on a first choice.

I know it will be close with only 2, if we do not draw, we will be better off for next year. Then again I am not set on G, might look somewhere else, looked like that might be the best option with the points we have. Would rather have more points and a choice of other units but we are behind in the points game and dont know if we can catch up for a few years so we just want to hunt. Unfortunately cannot afford a pay to hunt trip, just trying to figure out what would be the best decision for a public land hunt. I appreciate all your help.

I suggest putting in for region K. Easier to draw. Hint: Knights Ridge HMA (private ground). Do your homework and you will be very happy.
