Wolf assistance

I am giving serious consideration to spending this winter filling my wolf tag. Any advice on the best way to get it done?

My plan is to follow the elk around all winter up on the Boise forks and to spend lots of time spotting and looking for tracks. Maybe get an electronic call to assist my efforts.

Any advice is appreciated. I can't imagine wolf tactics and areas are well guarded secrets like deer and elk.

Thanks in advance for any info. Also, if anyone wants to split gas costs on the weekends let me know. I'm out in Kuna.

Howling at last/first light might help you locate them! I'd try that then stalk that location or use yote howls or barks to bring 'em in if you're pretty close. Or get some snowmobiles, find fresh tracks and try to run 'em down! lol

I think im gonna try a cow elk decoy with my electronic cow elk distress call, i aggree about howling and locating first, then a calling set up.

I'll probably end up doing the same thing but it seems they have left the area where we used to see tracks. At least last spring during Turkey hunting they weren't in there as usual. Missed a buck twice at under 100 yards a few days ago and I'm severely annoyed and confused as to how I missed. 1st time I've ever shot at a deer and not got him so I need to take it out on a wolf.

Runamuk,

Where are you from? I know another Runamuk on another hunting site and I wouldn't think they would know about wolf hunting... lol
