Ahahahaha!!! I guess it could be a LITTLE worse. At least you can't see a snowmobile or atv in the background.

Its lonely at the top.... just the way I like it.

First of all I rarely voice my opinion on this site but when I see someone make as stupid of a remark as this one I gotta set it straight. You don't know the circumstances of every winter range and what circumstances were when the horn was picked up. The animals have already left the area where they dropped their horns where I hunt sheds and many of the surrounding areas. The winters are mild and there are people out there who know not to go in and push the animals if they are still in the area they dropped. There are many people who would be pist to hear you on here saying that more restrictions should be put on shed hunting everywhere. Laws are enforced on an area by area level for a reason. So that everyones rights and privileges are not completely restricted if they don't need to be. Think before you open your mouth online or in public because those who would take away all of our hunting rights are always listening for new ideas for laws to make to take away our rights. Just my two cents.

Once again in areas where deer are still in the area they dropped their antlers I agree that the animals should not be pushed, but in areas that the deer/elk have have shed and moved on to different habitat there is not problem respectfully and lawfully picking up the antlers based on laws set in place for that area. I spend 100 days a year in the felid and I have a firm understanding of my areas and how the animals fair through different conditions. My last two cents ill be giving you. You seem like you enjoy stirring the pot and are not worth discussing this further with.

you personally wait till june to take your atv cross country off trail drinking beer and throwing your cans all over the place and trespassing on private ground, your such a good sportsman, and by sportsman, i mean disgrace to what we all work hard to preserve and cherish on this site!

I wish you would come to my neck of the woods around june so i could knock your teeth in. fire marshall my ass, id say convicted sex offender bill rather

LAST EDITED ON Mar-02-11 AT 11:21AM (MST)[p]Now that you people have resorted to calling eachother "sex offenders" (Really?) I'm going to attempt to steer this thread back in the right direction. The picture in question, seems to me to be 1)showing evidence of someone bumping deer 2)in some pretty tough country 3)in a bunch of snow. Put those three things together and it's not good. Before anyone starts whining "how do you know they bumped deer?" Well I don't but judging by the DEER tracks I'd say they are still around. Also the fact that there is pretty fresh snow all over and it looks to be snowing in the background yet there isn' any snow on the antler leads me to believe the deer recently shed and are most likely in the immediate vicinity. You guys cant b)tch and complain all you want about the guvmt putting more restrictions on you but until some of you jack wagons wake up that is definately the direction we are heading.

Deer are tough old critters and it takes alot to really exhaust them. A wolf or lion could do it very easy but a human, not so much. Just be cautious out there and if you see deer back out. Other than that no problems being out in the hills even as early as January.

dead on horn_star...! in the shadows you sure can do alot of assuming about a picture.... and as for more restrictions being put on shed hunting in-the-shadows you sounds like you support restricting hunting rights. just remember this country was founded on gaining rights not giving them to the government. i say that as proud american. do i support laws that have already been set in place yes, do i support laws that are not necessary to restrict my rights no. my two cents.

Alright desertmuleyhunter, I should not have assumed so much about a picture... you know what assuming does right? Makes an ass out of U and ME. Anyway, you can blab on and on about how american you are and that by me suggesting that we are heading towards a shed season I am somehow challenging the very ideals this country was founded on. You can talk about how american you are until your face turns blue, but in all honesty, I worry a little bit more about the deer and their chance of survival then I do about your all american, apple pie eating, god-given right to shed hunt in January. You sir are one of the ones who need to wake up.

Its lonely at the top.... just the way I like it.

In-the-shadows at no point did I mention hunting sheds in January and I have never hunted sheds in January!... do yourself a favor and stop being so defensive. All I did was call you out for assuming to much about a picture. I'm sure you are concerned for the welfare of deer and I support that but every area/region is not the same and laws should still be micro managed.

Slick didn't take that photo. It came from this website. He was just being silly. The picture is cool though.

And I would like to ask the mods or founder or whoever, that Firemarsallbill, or whatever his name is, is removed from the site. He made a snide comment directed toward my little boy that I chose to ignore. It seems every post he makes is useless. I would so love for him to make that comment in person, and not hiding behind his computer. What do you say hero? I will pm you my phone and address.

Wow! It really is turning into a tines up thread!

My son and I went out today, looked like we might be in a good spot as we found bone within a few minutes. However, we also bumped some deer. I told him that its not worth stressing them out and we hiked back out. The country we were in looked about like this post- steeper, snow on north facing slopes. It just wasn't worth it to me to possibly find more bone at the expense of deer that are still in winter range. My 2 cents.
