H is going to take a big hit. Winter came too early and there's still a ton of snow on the winter range.

Regardless of the weather in the next month the deer have been hit hard. Warm dry weather will help but the main damage has been done.
Time will tell. We still have a lot of winter to go. I assume Game and Fish will release some winter kill estimates before the application deadline.

I would just go for it.As stated above you might have to work harder but that's the challenge of hunting is to take on these obstacles on what happens Next year it could be some disease or they could close an area so why wait to find out something more harsh that could happen
I personally like hunting whitetails I am not a mule deer fan but when chronic wasting disease hits every few years You think that thisis going to be tough and always turns out that's my best year And when we have these good years it seems like I don't do well. It.might be cause the bigger bucks survive the.disease and with less does maybe they show themselves more.
My point is there will always be a obstacle to tackle. Better now then later. In another thread in posted what I have seen this winter in the mule thread in Wyoming forum... everytime we get snow people panic. But all this snow we need. Hopefully a wet spring for good feed. These are aninals. They can survive the winter. But no doubt some areas will get Affected.
This last saturday I went to the riverbottom to help a buddy pull treestands and trail cams that he just now has.time to do. Deer trails were everywhere. Feed is burried under 12-16 inches snow. Because on the River Bottom It takes a lot longer to melt the snow with all the shade from the trees But the deer are eating the trees very heavily so it just shows you with no grass to eat they still find something to Munch on

I know I wouldn't put off hunting because there might be a few less deer this year. Even after a winter kill, there will be some old bucks. AND, the winters typically affect fawns more than bucks that are in their prime, so it's not really the year after the winter kill that is affected, it's down the road when those fawns would be in their prime age (4-7). If there's a winter kill, then you're probably better off burning points the year following, rather than waiting.
I know first hand that putting things off for "later" doesn't always work out. There might not be a "later". Draw the tag and go hunt.

A big thaw in NW Wyoming since last week. It was 62 degrees yesterday here in Clark. The accumulated snow disappeared rapidly. Last night the wind blew all night with gusts up to 50 mph. I have recently been hiking or glassing into Deer Area 105 and 109, Elk Area 54-1 and 54-2, Antelope Area 80 and Sheep Area 1. In the next week or so, I will make a trip over into Deer Area 106 and Elk Area 51 and see what I see.
The biggest disaster around here is the washed out rural roads and mud. I have seen bighorn sheep, mule deer, antelope and some elk. They all look just fine. I have yet to stumble onto a winter kill. However, a neighbor across the road claims that a wolf grabbed a deer in his backyard a few days ago.
