This past Saturday we had set up on a water hole with tons of sign hoping some javelina would come in. We had barely got set up and two came running in to water. I made a 28 yard shot with my bow and got mine. The following day we went back to the same water hole hoping a few would come in for the wife to have a chance at. We had been there for about 45 minutes relaxing in the sun (it was about 35-40 degrees) and she even got a few Zzz's in. About the time she woke up I caught movement to my right. It was a group of 8-9 javelina coming in to water. The lead pig (javi) came in first at about 30 yds., then walked right over in front of us at 10 yds. She had to move VERY slow and deliberate to get her bow pulled back, which she did, and made an absolutely perfect shot. I think my heart was pounding harder than hers but she did a great job of keeping cool. This is her first critter taken with a bow and I am sooo proud of her!

Congratulations to your wife and you. I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that now that you've got her started you have a great hunting companion the rest of your life. You won't need permission to go hunting anymore just permission to go alone. NOW... the bad news there will at some future point in time come a hunt where she'll do a little better than you and boy howdy will your buddies have fun with that! It'll all be in fun and make sure that you tactfully point out to those ribbing you that her trophy was also bigger than theirs and watch the look on their faces. Congratulations to both of you again, and I hope you have many more successful hunts in your future.

Congrats!
I am lucky to have a wife that enjoys hunting too.
I think I can get away with a lot more because she understands me (a little).
I see she is shooting a Bowtech Tribute.
What poundage is it set at?
I'm going to upgrade my 13 year old into a full size bow this year.
Again Congrats!

Boskee,

You're right. Hell, her pig was bigger than mine by a few pounds. Thats quite alright though. It was one of those priceless times.

Harry,

Her bow is 26" set at 53# and she drives tacks with the thing. I actually had my eye on an Equalizer for her but when I was test shooting my Tribute, she wanted to try one too. Our shop "just happened" to have a 26/60 in stock. She shot it and loved it.

Thanks BuckSnort!
