their one of the best marketing sceems ever. really , think of all the funniest t.v. adds you've seen- it either had chimps or midgets. who cares what they are selling if you put a chimp or a midget it will sell! you could kick them or push them down all day long and at the end of the day it would still be just as funny as the first time

The previously mentioned are the butt of some of the funniest jokes I've ever heard!
I don't think HomerJ would feel to comfortable hanging out with my comedic crowd when alcohol is involved. The funny thing is that I have several Hispanic couples that my wife and I hang out with and they tell the most Hispanic jokes....actually they call them Mexican jokes which adds to the humor! I don't really hang out with many midgets....I don't really see eye to eye with them on many issues.

And PB the only thing funner than that is making fun of guys that are small guys and have tiny little heads and narrow beady insect-like eyes and over inflated egos that post all sorts of racist stuff on the internet.

Midgets/dwarves/little people have been sources of fascination and entertainment since ancient times.
"Tom Thumb" made P.T.Barnum the most successful showman of his time. Remember baseball owner Branch Rickey having the midget bat in a major league game? There are a million examples...
I think it just taps into human nature-a combination of fascination/revulsion of people different than us.Like a freak show mentality.If I were a little person I would not want to be paraded around but,then again,if I were Jon and Kate I would not want my family life to be subject to 24 hour scrutiny either.But there will never be a shortage of people who will do anything for a buck and a little fame.
I must confess I began watching "Little People-Big World" out of curiosity but the biggest impact it had on me was I came away with a huge amount of respect and admiration for the mother of that family.She is smart,a good mom, and lives a regular life not letting her size get in the way even a little bit.And she teaches her kids the same thing. Dad is OK too but a little flaky-you can tell he is into the exposure and the $$$/material things he has.
Anyway,the effect that show had on me was positive because it shows little people overcoming obstacles and that they are really just people like you and me.

I worked with a guy about 15 years ago who was not a midget, but had some strain of the dwarf thing going on. It wasn't THAT obvious but his head was big, he was short, he was a stocky guy and walked really bow-legged. That guy got so much tail and I still don't understand why. I hope this helps.....
