WHITETAIL HUNTING GRANGEVILLE TO ELKCITY

WONDERING IF ANY ONE HAD ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HUNTING WHITETAIL FROM GRANGEVILLE TO ELKCITY?IS THERE A GOOD POPULATION OF DEER? HOW ABOUT PUBLIC ACCESS?THINKING OF GOING THERE WITH MY DAUGHTER A FIRST TIME DEER HUNTER,ANY INFO IN THAT AREA WOULD BE GREAT IN PLANNING OUR TRIP NEXT FALL.

The deer population is ok, for mountain deer. (as opposed to farm ground deer, much higher deer/acres). Timing is everything. This year the migration hit with the rut and the last week of Rifle season. IT WAS CRAZY. This also has a down side, as a lot of people doing not so smart things come with it. It actually got dangerous on a few roads and Law Enforcemnt was called/involved on many occasions.

Public access... Seriously? Look at a map, it is all public property. Million acres you can access from there.

If you come up in mid to late November for a week and are not picky about the size, you should be have a fun hunt. If you get out and about and do a little scouting, and hiking, rattling... Just hunting you should be able to find plenty of deer.

Springbear thanks for the info!When you mean crazy do mean guys shooting all over the place? I knew there was alot if public land,is it mostly timber or is there some open areas?What do you think of hunting the opening week?
Any info is helpful thank you!i'll be doing some scouting this spring and summer.
