Whisker Biscuit and Fletching Vanes

Hello all,

I have been shooting a WB for about three years now and like how it performs, but have a concern when it comes to fletching arrows. I have noticed that factory fletched vanes seem to tear away from the shaft after repeated shooting through the WB. I am going to fletch my own arrows, but was wondering if I shouldn't straight fletch the vanes because of the shoot through rest that I am using? Would this help sustain the life of my vanes, and should I expect drastically reduced performance from my arrows? Thanks for any input that you can give.

In my experience putting a drop of fletch tite on the tip of my vains has helped. I also went with stright vains and have not noticed a differance in arrow performace. If you are going to fletch your own vains I'd say look into the Blazer 2" vanins. I went with them this year and I love them. They are shorter so less vain contact plus they are made out of a stiffer material so they hold up better and they group as good if not better than the 4" vains. Just my to cents. Good luck.

change you biscuit to the new one and use blazer vanes ... nice set up works good for me!

Well, this says exactly what I was gonna. I have done all of the above. I did the glue on the factory 4" vanes, it worked great. Then I went to the Blazers for better flight. The Blazers are awesome through the WB!!!

i would have to agree with everyone on this one,
Blazers are the way to go

God this site rules. I can find an answer to just about all of my questions here ;) Now I know to switch over to blazers.

I use a right helical fletch with Dura Vanes and Fletch Tite with no problem. I prefer a helical fletch when shooting with broadheads.

To avoid wear on the vanes, I turn the nock so the "rooster" feather (word filter gets silly sometimes) isn't pointing quite straight up but more like 5 degrees left. That way, as the fletch rotates through the bisquit, the vanes don't contact the black whiskers.
