What's the standard payment system in the classifieds?

For a couple rookies?
How do both the seller and the buyer have assurance that everything is on the up and up?
After WIZARDS famous shafting on ebay, do both parties just mail at the same time and trust each other?

Does the buyer use a money order or cashiers check for a receipt of payment?

What has been your experience?

Depends on the value of the item, who its going to, etc. The most common way I've seen it done is the seller has the right to set the rules.....if the buyer does'nt like it then dont buy it.

Seller usually holds item untill payment is recieved and then ships and forwards tracking info. USPS money orders are best. Firearms have to go to an FFL period no matter what state you live in.

Paypal is anti gun just like there parent company ebay....Screw em. Please dont ask me what ebay is.

There comes a time We all use what is known as MM TRUST!

You tell the Seller you want to buy it!

You send the Seller the Payment!

After the Seller receives the payment He sends your item!

If the Seller or the Buyer tries Shafting one another there is always the Good Ole American Ass Whoopin that comes in to play when needed!

Real easy. Have the buyer send you a MO or cashier's check, and once that's received, ship the item. If it's someone you know/trust, both ship at the same time.

doesn't either a cashiers check or a money order also offer some sort of receipt to fall back on? maybe not, just seems like I've heard it somewhere? from a buyer, what is the safest payment?

In this situation, I'm the seller, but I can understand the side of the buyer as well-

so it sounds like there is no ABSOLUTE way, just trusting on both sides?

good point, missed this as I was typing, is there any insurance/ back up to the buyer from using these or is just placing all the trust on the buyer?

Wire transfer works pretty good; I guess you could always agree to hold the check until it clears. USPS money order works good too.
