It's funny, my buddy and I were shed hunting yesterday, talking about that 300 incher and the squabble going along with it, and just wondered how we would handle it. We have certain rules we follow as far as matching up sets and multiple sheds from the same buck, but how would we handle the jealousy that is bound to follow from your buddy finding something like that? I told him I would cut his dang throat and some shed hunter would find his bones next year! I wonder how you guys would handle it? BTW, found 7 more and the first brown elk of the year but saw 20 other bulls still carrying.

It is hard but I just except the fact that he was in the right place in the right time and i was not!!! i had the world record 10 yards away from me and that happened i also had the same with a 242 inch skull but you have to look at it as if you found it!!! Shed hunting can be a group effort!!!
YOU AINT GOING TO KILL A BIG BUCK UNLESS THERE IS A BIG BUCK WHERE YOUR HUNTING!!!

Jealousy over other people's good luck shed hunting or hunting in general is just ridiculous.

If I matched up a set for one of my buddies, it's his antler no questions asked. I think they would do the same for me. Good friends are almost as hard to find as 300" mule deer.

I haven't heard anything that even remotely resembles jealousy or fighting when it comes to these big sheds. I've heard (and experienced) alot of envy, congratulations, and good natured ribbing. We all wish we could find somethink like this. That doesn't make us jealous, just green with envy.

If your buddy finds a big single, you should get the hell out of the area and let your buddy look for the match. I prefer finding the match on my own. A guy I used to hunt sheds with a few times has one of my deer matches, and it is my own fault for not laying down the ground rules ahead of time. When I found my side, he was going around like a bat out of hell to find my match. I ASSUMED he would give it to me. I choose my shed hunting partners much more carefully now, but prefer to pound the hills alone these days.

If someone finds a huge antler or set, more power to them. I am happy for them. I hate the competition some folks place on shed hunting. Another reason I hunt alone these days.
